I thought pregnancy brain was a myth, but I found myself seriously underperforming and doing stupid things at work the last month and a half. Anyone know what causes it? What we can do to make it better? When it will go away?

I don't want to get fired, my performance has gone from stellar to bad!

    Hi Dear,
I can totally relate. During my frist pregnancy I was doing my masters and I cant tell you, how many times I have walked into the wrong classroom or done a wrong assignment. I would forget words, or have something in my mind, but the words would vanish from my brain. I have also put salt in my tea, and the list can just go on.......................
It did last for about 3 months after my daughter was born. But the good news is it will start going away and soon you'll be back to stellar performance.
All the best, dont worry too much or stress yourself. Just laugh it off and blame it on your pregnancy, chances are most people will understand.

Oh yes, pregnancy brain is a real thing. :D <_< I used to say I had twin pregnancy brain.

But I am sorry to say that I don't feel it improved much once I had kids, something about when the baby is born, it sucks your brain cells out too. <_<

ROFL oh, wow ;) Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if the 'sucking your brain cells out' has to do with lack of sleep :D

Thank you so much for your response!

I'm not sure what causes it, but my guess would be the fact that all your nutrients are going to baby growing, even the ones that use to go to brain activity. There's probably not much you can do about it though, because if you uptake your nutrient intake the babies will probably take those too. For me this is the first time in my life where I've had this good of an excuse for dropping things, forgetting things, not getting around to things... It's great! I'm living it up! :a_smil09:

I know how you feel about the work issue..I work at a bank and our keys are very important they open doors and vaults...Well about 2 months ago I left all my keys in the door and went home for the night...They found them the next morning at opening time...Who ever could have opened the door up and took all the money out of my vault..I thought for sure I was a toast, but they were pretty understanding and I just got a write up...That's not all I keep wanting to jump in the shower with my socks on I catch myself at the very last moment I know it will happen before this pregnancy is over...Haha this one is great: my friend, who is pregnant, went to the bathroom and forgot to take her underwear off

I totally have it as well. We just got back from Disneyland and I can usually pack 20 bags and know where every single thing is down to a specific location but I was losing things left and right every day. I'd have something in my hand one minute and then it'd be gone. I'd put something down and then not be able to find it later. I'm surprised we came back home with anything. It was ridiculous!

OMG- I have it so bad--- the farther I get in the pregnancy the worse it gets. I am on the phone a lot for my job and twice in the past week I have called women on the phone sir, when I clearly knew they were women by names and voices!!! I felt so horrible! I am constantly stumbling over words and repeating myself-- goodness gracious, I think I am loosing it!!
