One more question for today ;)
One of my kiddos still has a preemie 'look' to her. Her temples are still drawn in on both sides and her features are still slightly too big for her face, though she's gotta weigh at least 12 lbs now. I asked the pedi and she said it will just go away eventually. So, how long did it take for the look to go away on your kids?

Mine were born at 34 weeks at 4#8oz and 4#10oz and I would say by 3 or 4 months they just looked like tiny babies. They had "full" (as full as a preemie can look) faces but just seemed tiny for their age. By 6 months they were the same size as my nephew who is 3 weeks older and was a full term:)

When mine were in the nicu the nurses all called them Toaster heads (horrible I know....but they do outgrow it). If I had to look at pics I would say somewhere around 9mos-12mos they didn't seem as obvious preemies to me. I guess it depends on how early they were. The micro preemies will obviously have the preemie look for longer. I know for the first two-three years everyone would tell me mine still looked like preemies but I didn't see it anymore.

My guys faces never truly filled out. The closest they got was at three yeasrs old. But they have been failing to thrive the whole time. I think that makes a bigger difference. They just sort of look like little people now, never having any chub to pinch, lol.

Jessy always had a elfin look to her. It wasn't as bad at 2 but she had open heart surgery at 4 and now at 6 she is a chubby cheeked cutie( I think she's about to go thru a growth spurt).

mine looked like angry little elves until they were a good 6 months or so...Abby was always a peanut and I had people asking me (when she was 2) when she would turn a year old!

My boys were 26 weekers. My littler DS always had worse "toaster head" than his brother. I, too, had to look back at pics, but my bigger DS outgrew it by around 6 months--when he "chubbed up." My littler DS was probably a bit later. Chances are they'll outgrow it. My boys have long, somewhat narrow faces now, but that's genetics. Multiple people commented from the time they were little that you'd never know they were such early preemies.

Thanks everyone!! Glad for the info. I'm not especially concerned, it was more out of curiousity. Thanks again!
