Preemie Diapers

Wondering if I should buy any preemie sized diapers to be prepared. I have newborn sized.

 

I bought one package of preemie diapers to have some on hand. I also bought a box of the newborn size. If they end up needing the preemie then DH will run to Wal Mart to buy some more. If we don't need them then we can take them back. I taped the receipt to the outside of the diapers so it won't be an issue.

 

You know, you will be supplied with diapers in the hospital to suit their needs before you leave. IF you find you need preemie size, it wouldn't be bad for someone to go out and buy some at that time. I always hate bringing stuff back (save receipts if you buy in advance) after the fact.

 

You are far enough along that you will probably be OK with newborn size. Preemie size are really expensive!

Mine came home at just over 4 lbs each, and they wore the newborn size Pampers Swaddlers . . . yes, they were big on them, but they worked just fine. We went through around 20 diapers a day for awhile, so even a small price difference can add up.

When getting ready to come home from the hospital we knew that any diapers in our little cart we could take with us, so I managed to move a few extras there in the last few days!

Thank you I think I will just stick with the newborn sized. How long did your twins stay in the newborn sized diapers?

 

I plan on using cloth...so..i don't know. I prolly will use the ones at the hospital if needed.

 

I will buy one bag. Reason being, it depends on how your baby is shaped whether newborn will work or not. My ds was 5 lbs 13 oz at birth, 5 lbs 8 oz when we brought him home, and the newborn's literally swallowed his butt. Well, he really had NO butt or hips! lol We had to search and search to find preemie diapers and they worked much better. So it really depends on your babies shape I plan on buying just one bag as a "just in case".

I also won't be stocking up on diapers because of the same issue, you just never know what brand is going to fit that little bottom best. Pampers worked best for my son while everything else leaked. Huggies worked best for my daughter and everything else leaked! I'll probably buy one of each of the newborn's to try for the twins.
