Ok, so I was out with a bunch of women last night and one of them swears that she found a website that predicts labor based on changes in the barometric pressure. She said she would send the link to me, but she hasn't yet.

My question is, has anyone ever heard of this and if so, did it work for you? Do you know the link? I couldn't find anything online. I'm just curious since we are getting so close to the end and I'm just wondering when it will be:) I would love any insight b/c I'm not a patient person and this waiting is killing me:)!!!!

I don't know the web site or anything, but hope you will share when you get it! These kind of things really spike my interest. I was just in the hospital late last week for pre-term labor and the nurse that I talked to swore that barometric pressure and full moons would bring more busy days/nights.

    How interesting!

I kept going into premature labor during tornado season. Every time a big storm was coming and the pressure would drop I would have to go in. And it was busy too! The nurses swore by the pressure.

    Well, Holy cow!

I was all set to jump in on how ridiculous the theory was, after all, if true wouldn't people's birthdays come in clumps?

Whether 'true' or not, looks like there have been scientific studies on it! And at least this one thinks it is related to PROM
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3999067

and this one thinks it is related to rupture of membranes and delivery (not labor)
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17004080

    I am SO surprised!

I've never heard of the barometric pressure one but that's interesting! I'm familiar with the full moon theory though; I work at a hospital and our L&D unit is always packed during a full moon. Funny, the next full moon is Sept. 15, the day before my birthday!

Oh man, I really hope I don't hold out that long:)

I still haven't heard from the girl about the website, but when I do, I'll post it.
    Thanks for all the feedback.

I do believe in the full moon theory. When my niece was born, it was a full moon, and the L&D at our small town hospital was so packed they didn't know how to handle it.

Well I live in the very south part of Alabama and if the hurricane starts heading this way I am suppose to go on into the hospital. So I don't know if it is precaution or what, but one of my good friends gave birth during hurricane Katrina.
