I was talking to this guy the other day thats wife is pregnant with twins and has preclampsia and I think he said she was like 35 weeks and he said its not IF you will get preclampsia its WHEN. Is that really true with twin pregnancies?

I don't think that is true. I believe there are many women on here that have gone through their pregnancy's without preclampsia.

I believe you just have a higher risk to develop pre eclampsia because the strain twins put on your body.

Yeah...thats not true entirely. The reason for delivering my girls at 35 weeks 6 days WAS high blood pressure, but it never got to pre-e...my doc said I had pregnancy induced hypertension, but was not to the pre-e stage yet. I never had protein in my urine or anything like that...I suppose it could have gotten to that point, but never did.

No, I don't think that is true, although it was in my case. I delivered at 37 weeks due to developing signs of pre-e.

No pre-e here. I had high blood pressure for me but not high by medical standards.

Twin pregnancies increased your risk of pre-clampsia, but it's definitely not ineviable. I had pre-clampsia with my first daughter, but not with my second, and my ob thinks I have an excellent chance of getting to term without it being an issue this time.

Honestly, it seems that twin pregnancies pose an increased risk for just about every possible pregnancy complication. I suspect that the OB has told that couple that its normal in twin pregnancies as a way to reassure them.
