I'm starting to look into pre school next sept for the girls, and was wondering how it went with twins.
Shae is very outgoing and Drew is quite shy until she feels comfortable, and I'm hoping someone else has had a similar experience with a good outcome.
They are both very social and have several friends their age that they see a couple times per week, but I know I need to finally do the preschool thing.... they will be turning 4 shortly after they start.
Should we also be preparing them somehow?
Do I need to do anything differently because they are identical?
( they already have figured out the " switching names game" ) if ones in trouble for something)
Sorry to sound crazy, I'm actually a pretty relaxed mama- especially at this time of night....after their bedtime.
I'm just concerned for Drew, I hate the thought of dropping her off with strangers, when Shae will probably take off on her.
    Thanks pam [IMG]

The first week of preschool can be a big adjustment, for singletons as well as twins. But I think it's less traumatic to make the adjustment in a preschool setting, with just a few hours a day and a few times a week, rather than tossing them in to full-time kindergarten without ever having been in a school setting before.

Be sure to visit the room at least once or twice before school starts, so they can meet the teachers and see how much fun it will be. I took my boys during a class period and the teachers let them play with the toys and interact with the other kids, and they were very comfortable. It made first-day jitters disappear.

I dress my IDs differently for school...usually the same clothes but different colors, and usually Brady in blue. My boys (especially Brady) really dislike being called by the other's name, so I do my best to make sure everyone knows who is who. With the blue indicator, even the classmates usually get their names right, which makes Hayden and Brady feel special.

Definately go visiting. Now is the time most preschools are starting sign-up, and they usually will give an appointment to visit. I chose a preschool that runs 3 classes at a time. That way the option of separate or together is there. I chose to separate mine from the beginning--they knew each other too well, and would feed negatively off of each other. 1 unhappy child led to 2 REALLY unhappy children. This has also allowed them to become more independent, and let their own "stars" shine.

Mine aren't identical, but I make a conscience effort to dress them differently for school and class situations--to make it easier on teachers and others who don't know them.

This is a great question! I will give it a bump! Zach is very outgoing and Josh is shy until he decides he 'knows' you. I have them on a list for the best affordable preschools starting in 2008. We have been going to storytime at library and playgroups at the Town Rec Center. But no real playdates at home yet.
