How long did it take you to get back to your prepregnancy weight. I had my boys 4 weeks ago and I still have a small belly. I feel like my uterus still has not strunk down to its normal size. I also feel like I look newly pregnant as opposed to not pregnant. Just wondering what is going on with my body.

It can take a few months - you were slightly stretched out! I was back in my normal clothes (4/6) without doing anything crazy at 4.5/5 months. (I weighed almost 200 when I delivered!) I still have that crepe like skin (gag) on my stomach and it's been 9 months... don't know if that will ever go away. <_<

Everyone is different. Im sure it has a lot to do with how much weight you gained during your pregnancy and how big/small you were prior to being pregnant.

I lost all of my weight pretty much right away with my first one (singleton) I still had a little pouch for about 2-3 months, but I guess it took that long for everything to shrink back into place.

I lost all of my babyweight with all of my kids within about 3 months after having them, but after the twins I have gained it all back.. I guess from being soo tired all the time and not eating right, also having a messed up sleep/wake schedule and not getting enough rest.

I would give it another month or so and if you are breast feeding or even pumping that should help burn calories and shrink your belly a bit more too.

    Good luck.

I'm only a week ahead of you so I can't really answer your question but wanted to let you know you are not alone. I gained 62 lbs and lost 42 by 3 weeks but I've stalled now. I read somewhere that your body holds onto some of the "fat" for a couple months to make sure you can feed the baby/ies. My lower tummy is still "newly" pregnant big and hard like my uterus has definitely not shrunk all the way yet. I was HUGE so I don't know if it takes more time or what. I am fitting in smaller maternity clothes this week though where I wasn't last week so I must be shrinking...just slowly. I have decided to tell myself slower might be better so maybe my skin won't be so loose. ;) I can hope right? :D

    I'm there with you!
I gained about 33-36lbs and have lost all +5lbs. I was going through all of my old work clothes yesterday excited to were something other than black pants. (I was HUGE during the last part of pregnancy and I had no clothes that fit except one shirt and one pair of black pants)...

NOTHING fits, even the pants that were too big when I was 10lbs heavier! I have always had a small belly, and it seems bigger. I figured because all the weight went to my belly and now the weight is gone, i would be semi normal.

I guess I was associating weightloss with size, and my sister who had twins says, it's skin, fat and tendons that have stretched, and says to expect shape changes..I definatly noticed my hips are wider.
I was soooo not expecting this!

    GL!

I also weighed 200 lbs when I delivered, and I still have 20 lbs to go. I still look pregnant, so I prefer going out with my girls! lol Your uterus takes 6 weeks to get back to normal. So you still have a few weeks....I just started going to the gym to help lose the weight. Unfortunately I also have twin skin, so thats not going anywhere...

I was back to my pre weight at my 6 w check up… but my hips didn’t come back together till about 3-4 months… I’m thinking maybe closer to 4m… so that meant I couldn’t wear my 4 till then… but I didn’t lose any more weight… I started jogging again around 4m… but I thank god daily about no stretch marks or twin skin… I told Dh while I was prego… I don’t care if we can only save for 3 years of college for these boys… if I get twin skin (I totally thought i would)… I will have a tummy tuck when they are one!!!! But I have issues!

funny tid bit... i gained 80 w/ my singleton and 50 w/ the twins... lost the weight FAST w/ the twins and didnt loose the weight w/ the singleton until he was 3 and in pre school and i could hit the gym regularly.... and I was 23 w/ my singleton… and 33 w/ the twins… didn’t do anything different

I think it takes 6 to 8 weeks for your uterus to be back to normal size. Give it some time. It took me 4 months to be back in my jeans.

I've heard it takes 6 weeks or so for your uterus to shrink back to normal. Also, I was at pre-preg weight by 3-4 months.

I was very discouraged at first too. I have always been one of those people that could eat anything they wanted and not gain weight. I struggled to stay above 110 lbs and was constantly hearing "you need to eat!" All I did was eat, and it's mostly junk food. I didn't realize how lucky I really was. So after the babies, I was so depressed to not fit into any of my clothes and to feel fat. I felt like I wanted to tell people that didn't know me that I didn't always look like this! My biggest goal was to be able to fit back into my clothes and not have to buy an entire new wardrobe. I went back to running (stopped during fertility drugs & pregnancy) at about 6 weeks and that really helped my self esteem. Each week I slowly fit into more and more things and got to ditch the "fat" clothes. By 2 months I was into some of my shorts, by 3 months I was into all of my shorts and by 4 months I was finally back into my jeans which I thought I would never ever wear again. So I reached my goal, I lost the weight (well, there's a few lbs still hanging on, but I'm ok with it) and I can fit into my clothes again. But now I am really really depressed about my stomach. Used to be flat and toned. Now it's poochy and has nasty skin. The skin seems fine when standing, but if I sit or lean forward it is so so disgusting. Not a day goes by where I don't think about it. Of course it's all worth it, but I can't help but feel disgusted by it. I am really self conscious of it now.

But at 4 weeks, don't worry. So much will change and get better in the coming months. Absolutely nothing in my closet fit at that point and I had to get some new "fat" clothes. Now they are packed away with my maternity clothes.

I surprisingly only gained 15 lbs during my twin pg. At my 6 wk PP appt last week, I was down 19 lbs! I didn't weigh myself before that.

I do have the 'twin skin' thing going on though even though I've lost all the baby weight. <_< Flabby skin on my lower belly (and stretch marks too). That sucks!

I was about 20 lbs under my pre-preg weight when I came home from the hospital. But I still looked pregnant for about a month.

You're being wayyyyyyyy too hard on yourself. 9 months to gain the weight, 9 months to lose it. But the reality is that your body will never be the "same." It's hard to learn to love your new body.
