Okay--In the last few weeks of my pregnancy I developed pre-e. It was horrible. I have never had high blood pressure in my life-in fact it has always been too low. I figured after having the babies I would return to normal-NOT SO. The twins are 4 months old and I am still having problems with my blood pressure and swelling in my ankles and feet. I have been on about 6 different meds to help control my b/p but I am still having to go back to the DR every month to try to get it better!!!! Has anyone else had this problem

    Thanx

Yes Yes Yes!!! I was just coming on this board to search for solutions. My boys are 3.5 months and my ankles are still snausages. I be one of those praying too. Hopefully time will heal all things cause the meds are not working for me either.

I am still dealing with edema and high BP as well. I know I really need to lose weight and am hoping that is part of the problem. But 13+ months out and I am still dealing with it :(

Me too. It stinks. I went off BP meds due to them making me feel awful. But I still don't feel great. My BP fluctuates, but runs on the high side most of the time. I finally stopped breastfeeding hoping that it would make a difference and it has somewhat. I'm not hot and flushed as much and I'm not having as much edema.

I'm seeing my internist in a month for my annual and we're going to discuss what to do about it. There is a good amount of info here http://www.preeclampsia.org/ including a forum for support. I wish they (the medical community) knew more about it and how to control, better treat and predict it.

    Scary stuff. :(

Oh No! I haven't really checked my BP since leaving the hospital - I have my yearly exam on Friday.... I'll find out then. I developed pre-e at 32 weeks. Hope my BP is okay.

I think my bp finally went back to normal right around 4 to 5 months or so.

GL and I hope it stabilizes for you soon!

    Update

Went back to the DR yesterday and my b/p was 151/100--I take my b/p meds religiously. they did start me on a water pill to help with the swelling in my legs and are hoping this will help my b/p get better

I saw my internist today due to a bad cough. My BP was 146/98 when the nurse took it and then my doc took it later and it was 139/86. Neither are great. We're going to try backing off my anti-anxiety meds and see if that has an effect (higher or not, since the BP/stress is why they put me on them). If it is elevated when I see her next month I'm going to have to go back on BP meds. She did say that there are much better meds than procardia now that I am no longer breastfeeding. That is great news bc procardia made me feel like crap.

April - Have the adjusted your meds or dosage? Are you breastfeeding?

I have been on about 6 different meds since before the birth of the twins. I am not breastfeeding any longer. My milk dried up :( I was on procardia and had a very bad allergic reaction. It made me feel awful too. I did check my b/p at one of those machines at Walmart last night and it was 121/81--Better, but not great. My legs have quit swelling since I have been on the HCTZ. that is really great--I could not even get my shoes on.

    Thanks

    April :D
