I spent the day in L&D. I called my doctor this morning concerned because I had a headache for a while, and I took the prescription medicine they gave me for headaches and nothing happened (it had been 4 hours since I took the medicine before I called). So my doctor said even though I was in there yesterday they don't risk these kinds of things and had me go to L&D. I got there and they put me on the monitor, etc. They checked my swelling, and my legs and feet had swelling. It just so happened that my doctor was there, so he came in and saw me. My BP was perfect, 101/58. So they didn't really understand what the problem was. They gave me some medicine that was supposed to help the headache, but it made me feel DRUNK (I think it was called fiorcet). They wheeled me down to ultrasound, and I must have talked to every person I saw on the way there- slurred words and all. I got to ultrasound and the tech was great; although, she told me everything she felt was wrong. She said that Reese's HR was low, it was 104 and then went to 112. Then she checked their cords, and she said Ryleigh's was "high" (still have no idea what this means). She said she didn't really know what the doctor would think of this, but she would send me back with her report. So I get upstairs, still drunk, and they asked me how I was feeling and I told them drunk with a headache. She gave me a blanket and told me to relax a little bit.
About 30 minutes later she comes back and I told her it got a little better (2 hours after I took the medicine) but it definitely wasn't gone. I wasn't drunk anymore by this point. Then I told her that I was having sensitivity to light. Every time I saw a light my eyes would water and I would squint. She said "ok let me go talk to the doctor." And then she came back with ginger ale and graham crackers, and my discharge papers. She said "Dr. M wants you to go home and eat something." First, this woman watched me pull a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of my purse and eat it, and I drank 3 bottles of water while I was there..I wasn't hungry- at all. So I said..uuhh what about my headache? And she said that if it gets worse to call or I can take more fiorcet later tonight.

WTH? SOO is my headache just not a concern or something? You're sending me home and telling me to eat when I've been eating all day? It didn't make any sense, and I felt kind of..well, shafted I guess. Sorry, I just had to rant about this.

What did the doctor say about the u/s report? Did they do any bloodwork on you?

I take fiorocet for migraines (hormonal) and started taking it after I had Liam. Have you tried any caffeine? (Yes, I know you are not supposed to drink a lot, but it may help with the headache)

I'm sorry you are going through such a rough time.

He didn't say anything. He wasn't concerned I guess.

Gosh that sounds like an incredibly odd experiance. I would call Dr and ask about the info the tech told you and the headaches. My goodness what an experiance. I hope it turns out to be no big deal!! Best wishes!

:( What a mess! I was on fioricet with my dd, let me tell you that once you take it for a few days to a week regularily and get the headache under control you will probably be able to cut it way back. I can't remember exactly how long it took, I'm think 4-5 days of taking it every 4-6 hrs (or whatever the script was for), and once it was under control I slowly cut it back until I was just taking one pill every afternoon.
