So, ive heard how things go from the actual surgery itself until afterwards, but what happens before the c section? My C Sect is at 9am but the doc wants me at the hospital by 7am. Having never had a surgery of any kind....what can i expect?

You will go in and they will monitor you and the baby, I assume you have registered beforehand--if not, you have to do that. Mine put in an IV and I had to have 1 liter of fluid before they would do the surgery, they also shaved me (FUN city). I then waited and walked back to the room for surgery. Good luck.

    My prep ws quite quick.

Paperwork completion, room assignment, get into room, get into gown, get settled, go to the bathroom, the nurse shaves the area of your incision, placement of the IV, dh had to get into scrubs etc too. I am sure I am missing things. Then they wheeled me into the OR and DH had to wait outside while they placed the epidural. I had some issues with getting that straightened out as my blood pressure kept ricochetting up and down but they took care of that quickly. Then dh came in and off we went. I do think it was about 1.5 hours but it felt really quick.
they didn't monitor the babies for me and I had shaved before I went in. They do a dry shave in the hospital so I wanted to avoid that.
I think it's mostly waiting for the people to each come and do their part.

I thought they monitored the babies during delivery? Or is that only if you are attempting vaginal?

I was in a surgery triage room for the 2 hours before my c-section. I got an IV, they monitored the babies and me and I also had a catheter placed. My c/s was scheduled for 8 a.m. and near 8 a.m. they wheeled me into the operating room and gave me the epidural and started shortly after that.

I have had two c-sections. One planned and one emergency. For the planned one I got there, changed into a gown, had an IV started & was shaved (not fun). Between all of this you will talk with the Anesthesiologists several times. You will start to feel like a broken record as everyone will keep coming and asking you the same quesitons over and over. My doctor also came by and talked with us when he got there. My scheduled c-section wound up starting about a 1/2 hour early. My doctor had a surgery before mine that went quicker than expected so I went back early.

    Good Luck!
