PPD and contraception

Does anyone know which contraception is the best to take while experiencing post partum depression?

My OB and RE are prescribing a bcp Yasmin, but I read that the pill is not so good for depression.

Any knowledgeable input would be greatly appreciated.

i am very interested to know the answer to this as well. My doctor just prescribed Zoloft for me and I am on orthotricyclen and she did not say anything about it not being good for PPD. Although, I guess my symptoms are more anxiety-related.....I would like to know if i should switch to something else though....

 

I've been taking Zoloft since the twins were five weeks old. I am currently taking Alesse birth control pills and I haven't had any problems. My ob told me if I had any problems with the pills she would switch me but I didn't need to. HTH

 

I am taking Zoloft and the mini-pill; no problems here. Talk to your doctor about it, I am not familiar with other BC and their interaction with antidepressants.

 

I am on Zoloft and Ortho-Tricyclen. I have not noticed any side effects or changes.

Same here after my DD was born!

 

In highschool I took Paxil and birth control, and I had no problems with the two mixing together... I was taking paxil for anxiety disorders and the birth control to regulate my periods... they never interefered with the other.
