Ok - I am tired of diapers!!!

My girls are 19 months old, and they have been "doing #2" on the potty since about 10 months. Sometimes they will also tinkle... but the thing is, I always have to guess when they need to go. The pooping is pretty easy to catch, but the tinkles are just sooo hard and sooo frequent. I tried pull-ups and also panties - thinking if they got wet they would get the idea, but no luck. They will usually go if I put them on the potty - but how do I get them to actually TELL ME when they need to go??

    HELP!

I think if they will poop on the potty and sometimes tinkle too you can probably get them to start potty training now. I know their communication is not great at 19 months but they should be able to know if they want to go and just start towards the potty. They will also hold themselves if they have to pee. You can also put them on the potty the same times every day and you will just know when they are due to go if you stick to the schedule and they same amount of liquids. Good luck! :)

It sounds like you are trained, not them. In order for them to tell you when they need to go, they have to understand the sensation of their body going. I have a freind whose son, from around 2 years old on, would go in the toilet whenever you put him there, but he was 4 in March, and still not 100% trained. They are babies for such a short time, why rush it?

I wouldn't even attempt potty training that early unless they were showing all the signs of readiness. I would much rather deal with diapers than cleaning up pee and poop. There's a post in this sub-forum that lists the signs of potty training readiness.
