My girls are showing a lot of signs of being ready to go on the potty and we are going to start potty training in earnest soon. I've tried in the past and given up because they were fighting it and it was so stressful. I've always just put them both in panties or naked and done the potty training together. As I'm sure you understand, it is so stressful with both of them out of diapers and having lots of accidents because they run and play in different directions, I can't keep my eye on both of them at the same time, I can't catch both of them and get them on the potty right away if they start to "trickle," and frequently I have to play "hunt for the mess," when one comes up with pee running down her leg and I don't know where she was because I was helping or watching the other!

I'm thinking this time I'll just put pull ups on one of them so I can focus on the other and maybe it won't be so stressful. I'm worried, however, that the one in pull ups will get upset if she sees her sister getting potty incentives, or will want to take her pants off anyway. On the other hand, the other twin might rebel about wearing panties and not having her diapers if she sees that her sister gets a pull up and she doesn't! This whole potty training twins just feels like a big nightmare because no matter what I do, there is a lot of extra stress when compared to potty training 1. Any tips? Is it better to do them together or separate?

K&K trained separate but I had nothing to do with it, Kayla was just ready before Kyle was. Potty training does not have to be stressful or messy. Follow their cues and go with what seems right for each child. If that happens to be together then great and if it happens to be separate then great! I didn't give any incentives, didn't use pull ups and didn't go naked so those weren't an issue for us.

I also trained mine seperately, but that was because Kira was ready and Katrina was not yet. I did try them both at the same time but it was very frustrating and messy. So then I just ended up with Kira since I knew Katrina wasn't ready. I used pull ups at night and only when go out somewhere but when home it was panties only. If they are both ready at the same time try it, it shouldn't be stressfull if they are ready. I tried many times with Katrina but she just wasn't ready, I tried the incentives, naked, you name it I probably tried it but when she turned 3 she just decided she was ready and potty trained basically over night. We got rid of the night time pull ups in about a month (she only had about two accidents that whole time) and she only had maybe two or three accidents in the first month and then had less the next. So now I am a firm believer that when they are ready then they will train themselves like what Dianne said. Good luck on your training, and try not to stress because if you are stressing they will be too and I think that will also make it harder to train.

My boys are training separately but that's not my choice. Slaton is showing interest while Camden isn't, so I'm not pushing it. I'll work to get Slaton trained and will work with Cam when he is ready.

Our boys potty trained together - and for us it made it much easier. They turned it into a competition, so if one went potty the other one was racing to catch up.

I actually started full-on (with panties, not pullups) today with Catherine since we are on Spring break from all of our scheduled activities. Andrew isn't ready, so I'm not even trying with him!

I'm with you on this one. Nathan is so ready to train, but I just don't think William is. Unfortunately whenever Nathan sits on the potty (we haven't been successful yet), William wants his turn, but hops up and right back down. Nathan will sit there forever it seems, but won't do anything. Mommy hasn't gotten brave enough to do big boy undies for them though. Maybe I will try that later.
