Twin grandchildren (boys 2yrs 9mnts) are refusing potty training. Any advice please. They will be kept back in the baby class
at playschool if they are not potty trained.

Just about tried everything from potty in bathroom, watering the flowers outside but nothing. They will ask you to put back on the nappy.

Wil tell you when they wet or having a dirty nappy.

Thanks and regards for a very Happy New Year to all.

Bribery? We used M&M's when the kids first started training. They got an M&M for sitting on the potty. Once they got the hang of that, they only got an M&M for putting something in the potty.

With my daughter, the M&M's & stickers worked great. She was PT-ed in no time.
My DS was the stubborn one. We had to stop and start again with him. The first time he was just not ready (or willing) and we did the 3 day potty training program with him (when he was 2 years 9 months) and I won't say he was potty trained completely in 3 days but by day 4, a child who wanted nothing to do with the potty was using it full time during his awake hours. It took a couple weeks later for him to be dry at nap and then a couple months later to be dry at night. But basically the 3 day program is setting aside 3 days where the family just focuses on PT-ing the child, they go straight to underwear, you make sure they have lots of fluids and look for signs that they are about to go or might be having an accident & get them to the potty. You might also have to give them foods that help them have a bowel movement as well. I know I am probably missing some of the info, but that's it in nutshell.
I would also ask the daycare if they have any suggestions for PT-ing them as well. Some kids PT at different times and it could just be the boys might not be ready yet. Good luck!

It's very possible they just aren't ready, especially with boys. I would wait a couple of months and try again if they are resisting it. The last thing you want to do is create negative feelings about it for them, which will only make things harder. If that means they stay in the baby class, that is probably the best thing rather than pushing them when they aren't ready.
