Potty Training

My girls have been wanting to sit on the potty randomly for the past month or so. (they're 21 months). Occasionally one of them will pee in the potty. Lately Cara has been grabbing her diaper and saying "Pee-poo" and running to the bathroom. Sure enough when I sit her on the potty she pees. I have 2 other children that I've successfully potty trained so it's not that I'm inexperienced but I'm seriously dreading this. I don't know what's wrong with me. I am excited to be out of diapers don't get me wrong, but I feel like..."How do I do this with two toddlers?" Elyse shows interest because Cara is doing it but won't sit long enough to go. Should I just work on Cara and then see what happens with Elyse? Or wait until I'm ready to dive in with both girls? If Cara is feeling the sensation, I don't want to miss this window of opportunity to train her. Any advice??

Here is another thread about potty training:
    Thread about early potting training

My two are 22 months, we have been practicing using the potty (but they've done nothing in it) my DS is showing signs of being ready, so I am practicing more with him then my DD. It sounds like Cara is ready and I would go for it with her right now. Perhaps once Elyse sees Cara doing it, she may start trying. Good luck!

I am completely terrified of potty training and really in denial of its impending necessity in my life. So I'm no help, but I feel your pain.

I planned on training my two together although I knew one was much more ready. Turned out the other didn't even want to sit on the potty, so I just worked with the one. He was trained in a week. I've been sick this week and it's causing setbacks b/c I'm not as consistent about asking him. He even wakes up from nap as says "uh oh pee" until I get him to the bathroom for the potty. I say go for it with the one who is ready and the other may or may not join in. Let them call the shots on this one.

I tried potty training them together a few times and it was frustrating beyond words. :gah: Then I realized that they didn't have to do everything at the same time (DUH!!) and did the one I thought was ready (DD) and waited with my ds another three months. So much easier for me this way. :good: I say that if you think one is ready and the other isn't, go for it! Good luck!!

Mine tend to do things at similar times, and the thing that I really enjoyed about PTing twins was that if I missed the first one, and she peed all over the floor, then I still had a chance to get the second one on the toilet, as well as a little warning that she was probably ready to go. Plus they tend to play off each other, and if one wants to go pee, the other one does too. Good luck with it!

I say try it out.. I was wondering the same thing. seems like even if you just spend a few extra days at the beginning w/the one twin that's more interested and get them well-versed in it, the 2nd twin might be easier?

I need to read that other thread.

I have gotten most everything I need to start. potties, toilet seats etc. they say a doll w/underwear is good too. so I better see if the new undies fit onto some of the teddy bears we have.
