Well my girls still aren't potty trained. :(

Reagan is so close, that I'm sure if I could just be consistent with her about it, she would get it and be fine. But it seems like I always forget to remind her, and she doesn't get the whole "tell mommy" part of it yet, so she does great and daycare, but bad at home. I know this is mine and DH's fault, but I really don't know how to be consistent, but yet get all my stuff done at home that keeps the household going somewhat smoothly. The easier answer would be get DH to do it, or help around the house more so I have more time to do it, but that's a whole different problem. :(

Brooke on the other hand is no where near potty trained. I don't know what to even think about her. She seems ready sometimes, but she doesn't. KWIM? She says she wants to wear panties, but if I put panties on her, she pees in them, but them cries because they're wet. She knows she should use the potty. She knows when I put panties on her that she shouldn't pee in them. She even tells me when I put them on " now no tinkle or poopy in the panties". But she still does it. I don't know if she really just isn't capable of being potty trained yet, or if she's just doesn't understand how to hold it, or if she just plain stubborn (wouldn't be the first time with this girl...LOL). Half the time she doesn't want to even sit on the potty and I have to bribe her into sitting on the potty. Or she'll ask to go to the potty (this is while we are out and about) and when we get in there the minute her butt hits the potty seat she saying "I'm done" and has a fit if I try and get her to stay on the potty for a while. This last thing she does drives me nuts because I feel like I can't tell her no when she wants me to take her to the potty, but I KNOW she going to do this AGAIN. Maybe one time out of 20 will she actually use the potty when she does this but it's enough that I feel like if I don't take her I'm sending the wrong message. Does that make sense? I have their 3 yr Ped appt on the 10th and I'm going to talk to him about it then, but I really just don't know what to do with her. And it hasn't helped that she's had diarrhea for the last week (no other symptoms, just the poops) so she's actually been in diapers most of the time to stop leakage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :(

I feel for you. Nathan trained really easy a month before they turned 3 (well day trained at least), but William is just now training. He is very successful in peeing in the potty if I tell him to go, but if left to his own devices he will still wet himself and not mention it to anyone. We still haven't had a poopy success so we have a nasty underwear everyday or so (sometimes he is nice and waits until mommy puts his diaper on for nap or bedtime). I wish I had a magical solution, but persistence on your part is the only way to do it. If you really think Brooke isn't ready, quit for a week or two and just go back to diapers. Then maybe try again. Mine learned really quick that if they didn't go sit (and I mean really sit) when mommy asked that they were going to get a "baby" diaper on. Can you have her sing her ABC's (or mommy can do it really slowly) while she tries on the potty? This worked for William who would get up after a fart saying he didn't need to pee. It took him a while to learn which muscle to pee with vs fart with (it was funny but frustrating). Good luck, they will get it when they are ready.

Thanks for the reply I think I'm might just drop it for a couple weeks like you suggest with Brooke, and see what happens. Maybe if she see's Reagan getting peaised for using the potty, she start to want to do it. I do try and sing to the girls while there on the potty. That's what worked so well with Reagan. Brooke just screams "no singing mommy". And I tried the "baby Diaper" thing, but Brooke likes being the baby. She'll even bring be a pretend bottle and ask me to feed her. (cute, but not helping - LOL)

I'm sorry things seem so tough right now with the potty training. I just went through the same thing, but finally my persistance won. Your day is coming! I would give it a break until she gets over the poop problem. Then buy up some prizes that the girls absolutely love. Nothing expensive... m&ms, stickers of favorite characters, new panties. This seemed to work for me. I had a "talk" with my DD and DS about how we were going to have "potty parties" every time they used the potty. Also, keep letting them have accidents. They will soon look for a potty to use instead. I keep a small training potty in the livingroom for those "gotta go" moments. Anyway, I hope some of the things that worked for me will help. I focused on nothing but potty training for about a week and we are doing great. Good luck and let us know how things are going!

Hi! I am new to twinstuff.

I am potty training too. B/G 2yrs. 7mnths. I have found that if they have anything on panties or pullups they will pee in them. But is soon as we go commando (naked) they seem to know to use the potty. I am keeping them naked as much as possible, outside too! I am on day 5 but I have not been pushing the issue to hard. The more I can keep them naked the better I think they will do.

    Keep it up! :)

To help you in remembering to remind her, set a kitchen timer. It's kind of like Pavlov's dog.....she'll hear the ding and have the urge to go potty (that's the hope, anyway).

I swear I could have written your post, word for word, a couple of months ago.

Cate was clearly ready, she just needed me to be consistent with her about it. DH was notorious for putting a pull-up on them, because he didn't want to mess with it. My girls relate pull-ups to diapers, and think they pee in them just the same. My girls go to daycare, and we are always soo busy on the weekends, it was hard to commit to it, but we just had to do it. We stayed home for three days and just pottied all day. I had tried it previously, without rewards, and didn't have success. Some do, I didn't. So on the first day of our three day marathon, I put up little poster boards with the girls picture on them, and bought one pack of 400 jazzy stickers (I think it was $3.97 at Wal-Mart). They get one sticker for pee'ing & two for pooping. Once I committed to it, Cate picked it up in no time! She had about 40 stickers to Claire's 5. Claire would do like your DD and sit on the potty and say "It's not working". Then she would stand up and pee in the floor.. It did take longer (a couple of weeks) I almost gave up, but their daycare teacher talked me into sticking with it (she's been through a lot of potty training in the older 2's class!). We stuck with it, and about a week later, she was a master, too. They both go days without any accidents (They were a pull-up at night, but that's a completely different topic for us).

After reading so many posts on here, I thought if the girls were ready it would "magically" happen.. I wasn't going to be one of those parents who fretted over it for months and cleaned up a gajillion accidents. I think I ended up somewhere in the middle. It didn't just happen, but it wasn't a long drawn out battle!
