Abby and Chase are 21 months and she said "poop" this morning and when I took her to the potty, she WENT! I was so shocked! We have been very casually talking about the potty and practicing every few days. I never expected this to happen... and now I don't know what to do. How do we move forward? Should I get aggressive or just keep being casual??? Would love to hear thoughts!

stef that's great! if it were me, i would keep being casual for a while - ask her if she wants to use the potty when you change her, let her go if she tells you again, etc. if you do that for a few weeks and all's going well, then you could take the plunge and train for real.

alisha will tell us when she needs to go/ is going/ has gone, but doesn't like to sit on the potty - not sure if she is scared of it or doesn't want to make a mess  so we're taking it slow.

let us know how it goes!

Ali is showing signs, but Martin's not really. He'll go sometimes, but I am not pushing it!! I would just hang loose and wait until she's a little more excited about it. I had first success at 18 mos. and then no more till after 2 yrs......

When you say agressive, I get scared. To me this isn't something you can pressure. If you mean agressive as in buy underwear, potty seat, stars, toys etc go for it! Sounds like this she is giving you a sign she is ready. Test the water and see what happens. Buy books about potty training to read at bedtime. Get 'Once upon a potty' video. All these little hints will sink in eventually. Let the kids what you on the toilet and talk about it. Maybe let them sit on their potty at the same time as you go. "say listen. Mommy's gonna make the brook run...Now you try to make your brook run.'
