Potty training regression

Yes, thats exactly what she told me. Both girls have been mostly trained since June but recently one of them has started pooping in her underwear and peeing too. all while standing right next to her potty. when i asked her what was going on she said she likes to poop in her dora underwear.I am pretty sure its intentional and has something to do with seeking extra attention. May have to do with arrival of new baby but was happening before he was born. i have been making it no big deal and just reminding her that pee and poop go in the potty but its getting old. Any advice on how to stop this behavior?

 

I would bet it has a lot to do with the arrival of the new baby too! I think the most you can do is keep reminding her, give her as much attention as you can (I know it is really hard with a new baby) at other times, and if it doesn't improve you could always start back with a reward system just like when you start potty training (stickers, M&Ms, whatever might interest her). :hug: I hope it gets better soon!

 

I was going to suggest two things - a sticker or reward chart for sure, and maybe getting her to help clean up the dirty and wet accidents (as age appropriate). My DD is an attention seeker herself and in the beginning she was pooping in her panties just to get to wear a new pair of panties! Then I told her very matterly of factly that when she does that we have to clean it up and she needs to help, so I have her go and get a cloth, help wipe up as much as possible, try and rinse out her underwear and put them in the laundry basket - this seemed to have taken care of that issue very quickly with us.

I don't have experience... but from what you said that she likes to poop in her Dora underwear... maybe stop letting her wear those... and get some plain ones?? or maybe she needs to be naked a few days? I know some methods are naked training at home...

I'm still working on my ds trying to go poop in the potty... he just doesn't want to let go yet! ugh!
