Hi ladies, I'm sorry I am adding for questions for this topic. We have not totally trained our kids. However, we do it on and off, not seriously. But the kids always ask us for go to bathroom for pee or poo. We still keep them on diapers at night. I'm just not really for night train. I guess my kids are ready then I m

My question is, for preschool: do they need to know how to clean up themselves? Like wipe their butts, wash off. Well, I would never be comfortable to let 2.5 yrs olds wipe their butts lol. We let them wash their hands off, but under our supervision. They will start preschool next yr. so I need to get serious about PT though. and for preschool: can we pack extra clothes in case of accident?

Other questions: before they used to go on the regular toilet with the toddler seat on top. But now they like to sit on the potty trainers. And we have to clean up those. So should I get rid of those potty trainers or just keep those? My downstairs bathroom is just half bath. So it's so crowded in there. And they usually go bathroom together, so we have to have 2 potty trainers in there. When can I get rid of those? When can they just use the regular toilet? If my kids are ready. What method should I use to totally train them?ile should I keep them at home for a full week to train them? They get sit on the toilets for certain time at daycare though. They go to daycare wed and fri.

My last question: what is the best stool for the bathroom so they can step on and wash their hands?

    Thank you so much ladies!

To answer your questions, here is my experience
    1. Preschool: It really depends on the preschool. Some (like the one my friend sent her 3 year old to) want the children to be totally potty independent (able to pull up pants/underwear, get on and off the toilet by themselves, wash hands, be able to wipe themselves) and some (like the one my kids go to) want the kids to be potty trained but the teachers are willing to help the kids out with wiping/washing hands/etc. I would suggest talking to the preschool you plan on sending the children to and see what their expectations are. The preschool my kids attend want them to bring extra clothes in case of an accident.
    2. If the kids are asking to use the potty, I would let them have a go at it. My kids night trained on their own, I did not do anything special to night train them, I think each kid has to be developmentally ready for that...some can do it before 3, some after they turn 3.
    3. I see your kids are 2 yrs 4 months. I would keep the potty trainers if that is what they are most comfortable with right now. I would have them help you flush the pee and poo in the big toilet and emphasize that this where they will be going. I still have the little toilets in my kids rooms just in case if they have an emergency and can't make it to the bathroom in time. For my two graduating from the little potty seat to the big potty really came about when they got a few inches on themselves and felt more comfortable with the big potty. Our potty is high up off the ground and not small child friendly. For my two to be able to sit on it, they have to use a step stool. To reach the sink, they have to use a step stool. For my son to stand and pee, he still needs the step stool to reach the potty. I found a step stool at Babies R Us for 10.00 and it works fine.
    4. Method of training-really depends on what you are comfortable with and what you find works with your kids. My daughter, I could use pull ups and let her take the lead on training. She was very easy to train once she was motivated and ready. My son, however, was not so easy to train and we had to do the 3 day method with him. He was not PT-ed in 3 days but he was day trained by day 4-5 and fully day/night potty trained with 4-6 weeks after that.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I m the only one who is not ready and has no clue what I should do lol. I just keep everything as it is for now. We will seriously train them after this holiday weekend.

They don't really use that many diapers anymore. At home, we always go to bathroom. But when we are out and have fun, they never ask for going bathroom. They do it in diapers though. So I am not sure what to do about that yet

They're not even 2.5 yet... don't sweat it... If they ask inside though, I'd probably take them out in underwear and just stop at the bathroom whenever possible.
