Potty training question

One of my girls is almost completely potty trained which is great. However we are having an issue when we are out in public like restaurants. We are starting to use panties only during the day, but still frequently use a diaper or pullup if we are out and about, just in case.

A will ask to use the potty. We (Mom or Dad) go with her, she goes pee-pee. We say Are you done? Wonderful and go back to the table. Then B usually asks to go and we change her soggy diaper while we're there. Then back at the table A wants to go again. Are you sure we ask. Yes she needs to go more pee-pee or poo poo. So we go back to the potty and try again. She ALWAYS goes peepee again and sometimes poo poo as well. At these times, her panties or diaper is dry and I don't want to mess with that.

While this isn't a huge problem, I can't seem to get her to go to the bathroom and be done. It is a two or three trip process during one meal. I can't seem to eat a meal anymore and I'm getting tired of it. I don't know if there is a physical reason that she can't/won't void completely and needs to do it several times or if she just likes the attention. I don't want her to have an accident, esp at a restaurant, but how do I get her to "go" just once and not make it fun repeat trip? Her sister has started asking to go again when sissy does, but we haven't let her since she's copying sissy and we don't want to have both doing this repeatedly.

    Any advice?

My daughter does this too, sometimes. It sounds like we're a little further along in the process than you are but I don't know that you really have a choice about taking her. I suspect that the novelty of going so frequently will wear off or she'll just naturally start finishing on the initial trip and won't ask any longer. Some days, when we're running errands, it feels like we spend at least half our time in the bathroom. Pee before leaving the house, pee when we arrive, perhaps pee while we're shopping (if a longer trip like groceries), pee before we leave, pee when we arrive at the next place, and on and on and on. Oy. Good luck and I hope the situation solves itself soon!

I think switching back and forth from diapers to underpants is confusing. I personally wouldn't recommend continuing that way. That is alot to understand for a child, why the bathroom rules are one thing at home and another away from home. I went through this a little with Kayla and yes, for awhile I was taking them to the bathroom quite a few times in a meal (it is just me and them so it is quite a process to take everyone to the bathroom each time) but I was ok with it until they got used to how their body's work etc. Eventually when I had a better understanding of how good their control was I would make sure we all go before we leave the house and they can go one time if necessary at the restaurant, they just don't need to go more than once (unless of course someone is having an issue which is obviously an exception). Now we can get an entire meal and maybe some errands done without having to stop at any bathrooms.

Also, some kids, like mine, just seem to like public bathrooms. Mine have finally stopped asking to go more than once during dinner at a restaurant. As long as she is actually using the bathroom, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Also, keeping her in underpants might help in that she won't want to "leak", so she may manage to push more out.
