Potty training question is this normal?

Both of my girls know how to go on the potty now. As soon as I put them on it, they go. (Assuming it's been a long time since they were last on it.) But if I don't ask them to use the potty or put them on it, they don't use it. They don't let me know on their own that they want to get on it. So I've still been putting pull ups on them, and just randomly asking them 2- 4 times a day if they want to go potty to which they reply "yes" and use it. But they still go in their pull ups too.

Is this normal? Will it just click one day? Am I hindering their potty training by putting pull ups on them? Even if I put them in panties they still go in the panties if I don't ask them every hour if they want to go sit on the potty.

Have you tried giving them rewards for staying dry? Not for going in the potty, but for not going in their pants. That may motivate them a bit to try on their own.

Nope, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the idea.

THIS! When we'd go potty, if they were dry too, I'd make a big deal about staying dry and give them a reward. We did it with a few days of underwear and accidents but it worked for all of them. We moved from getting rewards when they were dry to rewards when they were dry AND went pee. GL!

I totally agree with rewarding for staying dry!
Sophie went to daycare during potty training time and I think that since I had her in pull-ups the dcp didnt try very hard. Once I sent her to daycare in big girl panties and about 5 changes of clothes she really caught on on quick and I think the dcp tried harder because she didnt want to change soiled clothes.
Sounds like you are doing great so far!

It took my kids awhile before they started telling me they have to go potty. We would just put them on throughout the day pretty regularly and they eventually caught on to telling us.
