MY TWINS LOUIS AND JAZMINE ARE 4 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS OLD AND STILL WILL NOT GO #2 IN THE POTTY. THEY ARE AFRAID AND THE DAYCARE SAID THEY WILL ONLY GO IN A PULL UP. I AM SO FRUSTRATED ABT THIS. I LEAVE THEM ON THE POTTY FOR 15 MINUTES AFTER EATING LIKE THE MD SAID AND NOTHING. AS SOON AS I GET THEM READY FOR BED AT NIGHT, THEY GO..ANY ADVICE FROM ANYONE WOULD BE APPRECIATED..

    RESPECTFULLY -

    SINGLE MOM OF B/G TWINS

Gosh, first of all :hug99: to you. I just got done PT my son. He took a few months longer than his twin sister. At first he refused to go on the potty and I did not know why so I let it go. I would give him rewards ( like M&MS) everytime he did go. The don't get sweets very often so that was a huge incentive for him. He started wanting to go on his own everyday until it became a habit. Now he doesn't even ask for the M&MS anymore. It is just something he has gotten used to. My suggestion would be to give them some kind of Reward for going. Make sure it is something they don't get on a regular basis. One thing that worked for my friend was to promise her son a trip to Disneyland as soon as he potty trained and did not have an accident for a week straight. She swears it worked! Good luck sweetie and know that you are not alone in this. :)

If they are truly afraid, rewards won't matter. I have a friend whose son had an issue about pooping. What she did was tell him that he had to ask for a pull up. Then he had to ask, and go into the bathroom. Then he had to ask, go to the bathroom and sit on the toilet. Eventually, he would go in the toilet. I can tell you from my experience, once they poop once or twice successfully, they will be over their problem.

    Good luck!

Also, welcome to TS! an FYI, all caps makes it harder to read your posts...

    Hi Mishelle and :sign0016:

We're in the midst of training as well, and have run into some similar pooping resistance. I agree that if it's a real fear, it may be hard to overcome with rewards alone. The step-by-step approach sounds good to me - GL! Finding the right words has really helped my one son (a big talker) - we talk about how it's just a matter of where he pushes it out, how much better his bottom will feel if it goes in the potty, how the (his words....silly boy) 'potty LOVES the poop, it's sad if I don't give it to it' .... now, he doesn't necessarily do it yet, but he's getting there, I hope.

Best of luck - I hope you get some other good suggestions and have lots of success to report soon!
