Ok ladies...I'm breaking down and getting my girls a potty this weekend. They have both been telling me right after they go poop, but I haven't even had a thought to let them sit on the potty b/c I don't have one [IMG]

So, what one do you recommend? I keep seeing THIS ONE and Morgan would just go nuts to have an Elmo potty! She would probably never get off of it!

    So, here's my questions...
    1. Which one do you recommend? I really don't think I just want the seat that goes on the actual toilet b/c they would NEVER sit there for very long.

    2. Is it necessary to get 2 potties? I'm thinking yes, but I don't know. I know if one sits on it the other will whine b/c she's not sitting on it. But, do I get 2 for downstairs (since that's where we spend the marjority of our time? They bathe upstairs...do I need at least one (if not two) for that bathroom too? Or just put them on the downstairs potty before they take a bath, etc?

Sorry for the confusion, but I wanted to start looking this weekend and wanted to get some EXPERT opinions!!!

We got two potty chairs. The girls actually got them for Christmas. I'm having an issue with the whole upstairs/downstairs thing too. I've been carrying the chairs upstairs during the girls naps and then while they're eating dinner so they are there for their bath and when they wake up in the morning. They're still really finicky about sitting on them though so we've got a long way to go.

Here is a pic of them on their Pooh Bear potties just b/c it's so cute and I wanted to share!

I only bought one and had them go one at a time. I moved it upstairs and downstairs. But now that I think of it, I guess that's a lot of up and down, when toilets are cheap! But they moved to "big boy" toilets pretty quickly, so in the end it proved to be the right decision for us.

BTW, that Elmo toilet is adorable! Go for it!

    Hi Becky!

The only thing I will say about the Elmo seat and any others that makes noises and sing is that it is very distracting. I had one where the handle would make a flushing sound when you pushed it so that is all Alex would be interested in. He wouldn't sit and concentrate on the task at hand, KWIM? I quickly threw that one out and got the ones from Graco, I think. It's white with a red, removeable bowl and removable seat which you can use on the big potty eventually.

Good luck no matter what you decide. I JUST potty trained Alex so I will be taking a much-needed break from that department until I tackle the girls!

I just have the little seats that you put over the big regular potty. I do have a small potty that we got when Ethan was potty training but ended up only using the take-out seat, and using the potty as a step stool. It just seemed like a big pain to have them go in that, then empty and wash out the little bowl underneath every time. Easier to just flush it like normal [IMG]

Since my older DD really preferred to go on the big potty with an adapter ring, I bought an Elmo and Dora potty ring for the bathrooms (one up, one down). However, as we had several accidents with one trying to hold it while the other one went (or when Kylie wouldnt get off the big potty until she peed so she could get her M&M), we broke down and bought 2 potty chairs. So in each bathroom, we have a ring AND a potty chair. That way, when they both have to go potty at the same time, they both can.

We have one of these potties and one of these potties but we like the first one because its more girl friendly. The first one has a soft ring which switches from boy to girl(great I think for b/g households). Mine sit on the potty before bath every night and have since they turned one. Jessy will pee every once and a while and has gone poop once. Jazzy has gone pee and poop several times.

We only had the potty rings, one for each bathroom that the boys used. Like Jenny, I didn't see the point in a potty chair, and didn't want to be bothered to empty it.

One thing to keep in mind is that knowing after they poop is one thing, knowing BEFORE is a whole different story! Many kids don't like to be dirty, but that doesn't mean they are ready for potty training. If you read the sticky at the top of this forum, you will see that most of the quickest training occured when they kids were on the older side, and were really ready.
