I'm not ready to start, but I'm trying to think it out some. I think it makes more sense to me just to use a seat, so the transition is easier, going out in public is easier, and it's got to be a lot easier to clean! :bad: But with twins, I'm wondering if it's best to have two chairs so it's something they both can "work on" at the same time? I can only imagine them fighting over taking turns...

    What are your thoughts? Opinions?

we have both - I actually have 3 potty chairs - one is a Safety 1st that the seat turns into a potty ring, and I have 2 Baby Bjorn full size chairs (that are in the living room)...DD started out preferring the ring only (for about a week) and now she doesn't care which one she pees on!

We have both as well. Two potty chairs and a seat to go on the toilet. For us, we had to have two potty chairs because when one would sit, the other would have to sit as well. My girls have not yet used the big potty and refuse to sit on the toilet at a public place. However, they have both used the potty chairs. Sarah will only use the potty chair and we have to take one with us wherever we go, but hey, at least she does go. I do sit them on the potty seat whenever we have a bath or whenever they ask, but they just aren't comfortable using the toilet yet.

Ditto to the both posts. Upstairs we have a seat, and we have a travel seat for public restrooms, as well as two small potties for downstairs, where they potty the most.

We have both. At first we had two potty chairs (the Baby Bjorn ones -- love them!) because the girls' legs were so short, they were just much easier for them to use. After several months, they started showing interest in using the potty ring instead (also Baby Bjorn -- love it!), so we got rid of one of the chairs. It was nice to free up a little space in the bathroom.

Now neither of them is much interested in the ring, and Amy always prefers to use the potty chair for her marathon pooping sessions, while Sarah barely goes to the potty at all (still in diapers) -- so it still works out.

I will say that even though we had two nearly identical potty chairs (they were different colors), the girls still managed to fight over who used which one. But it was still better than having only one. Plus, if they go potty at the same time, it only takes one parent to sit in there and read them stories.

FWIW, re: going out in public, it has not seemed to matter which we use. I hold them up on the public toilets and they use them just fine, though it's a little hard on my arms if someone has to poop. But that's always going to be the case, unless you're going to carry the potty seat around with you.

We had a potty but we got rid of it pretty quick. I hated the thought of emptying so he went on the toilet with the seat from the beginning. It worked out ok. We had a portable potty seat that folded up into my bag for outings.

wow, pretty consistent opinions! I suppose I'll need to hunt down both types! And it looks by far that the Bjorn seats are the winners around here- good to know! :good: Thanks everyone!

my cousin just called this week saying her DS (who is a month younger than my guys) has started using the potty. Don't you just love the "well MY kid is doing this now" calls?? <_< Though I'm thinking I'm in no rush.... :bubble:

We also have both. Potty chairs downstairs and a potty ring upstairs.
