the kids are 18 months and I think they are showing (god help me) some interest.

I thought we would start with a potty chair (or 2?) in the bathroom and just get them used to using it.

I have a boy and a girl, so here are my questions:

    1) Potty Chair recommendation?
    2) 2 chairs to start? or 1?

    eta: Thanks in advance!

I got the plainest, cheapest one I could from Wal-Mart. Nothing fancy and nothing to play with .. I didnt want it to seem like a toy for them .. but a place of business.
I also placed the potty out in the open so they were reminded to use it every time they saw it. i felt if it was hidden in the bathroom they wont see it enough to remember.
I feel that most kids potty train themselves .. of course we encourage them and teach them what its for, but they wont train until they are ready.
Patience and a sense of humor go a long way when venturing into the world of potty training. :)
    Good luck !

I started with two, thank goodness, because when one decides to sit, the other one has to as well.

We have the white Baby Bjorn they are easy to clean. We bought two of them.

I have a Baby Bjorn, too & love it! They had gotten a different one for their bday, but I exchanged it b/c it was too hard to clean & all the little noises & lights were too distracting. I wish I'd gotten 2, though, b/c they did go through a huge "my potty!" stage and push each other off. My advice on that: get 1, see if you like it & then get another of the same color. (Mine fight over colors)

My DD was the only one who used a little potty chair. She was too tiny to sit on the big potty. All my boys are training on the big toliet. I face them backwards for more stability. They can hold the back if needed. As for 2 potty seats...mine are not training at the same time. I say start with one and get another only if needed.
