Potty chair or potty ring?

DD is showing some interest in the potty (she asked to use it today). She will sit on the big potty but I have to hold her up. I would like to get a potty chair or a ring for the big potty. Which do you all recommend?

    Things to consider:

We would likely get 2 (one for upstairs and one for down)
Neither bathroom has much floor space

    Concerns:
Cleaning the potty chair (is it a big hassle?)
Having to remove a potty ring for adult use

So far I have considered the Ikea potty chair and the Fisher Price frog chair. For rings, the Baby Bjorn toilet seat ring gets great reviews, but is pricey. Does anyone have experience with these products, or do you have others you like?

I am not really wanting to start potty training, especially with baby #3 due any day now, but I would like to have something available for the kids for when they are interested.

    We actually did both.
When they first started showing interest we used the potty chairs mostly. I put them in the living room so they would sit there for a longer time. (Thanks to Elmo or Yo Gabba Gabba.) Now that they are doing really well with it, the potty chairs are put away and they use the ring.

I just got an inexpensive ring from Target. I think it was $10. It's great because when we do travel to grandparents/aunts/uncles it's easy to bring along if they need it.

Cleaning the chairs wasn't too bad. I just used a diluted bleach solution and water. Mine also didn't poop in the chairs. They didn't start doing that until they were using the ring.

I have two potty chairs...my DD has a pink summer infant potty & and DS has an Elmo potty. Our bathroom is not big enough to fit both potty chairs so they usually stay on the main floor where we spend most of our time. Because I earned enough points from the Pampers Gift to Grow program, I got two free Diego & Dora potty rings for the bathroom. Right now my two are still a bit uncertain about using the big potty in the bathroom (I think they don't like the fact that their feet don't touch the floor yet) so they use their potty chairs to go. The potty chairs are really easy to clean, the bleach and water solution works great.

We bought a chair and MIL got a ring(when they were about 12 months, but that's another post! ;) ).

They use both interchangeably. I guess it depends on their mood! LOL! But if you wanted to-you could get this travel potty :Travel Potty We LOVE it! It's a travel potty for in the car, etc and it also doubles as a ring! So if we go into public restrooms, I can bring their travel potty and put it over the other toilets. Best $ we ever spent! And it's foldable and comes in a little bag for storage!

We have this ring that my dd used sometimes, as well as the very last potty, the Safety first one. She didn't use the potty for long because she's so tall/long legged that it wasn't comfy for her. She preferred the potty seat.

Then we found the best thing ever. It's a 3 piece actual toilet seat, with a lid, a smaller opening potty training seat, and then a normal toilet seat. I can't find it on the walmart website but that's where we found it. So now we don't need a potty or a potty seat in our master bath, the smaller opening potty seat is the same size as a seperate potty seat. My dd loves it! She still uses it, helps her feel so secure on there!

So we keep the potty ring in our smaller bathroom and we use the 3pc toilet seat in our master bath now. I may buy a second potty for when we are potty training so we can use them in the living room, but I'll stick with the el-cheapo ones, that's all that's necessary ;)

With my daughter I used the ring. Honestly potty chairs freak me out a little. I just bought my ring at walmart. I also had a travel one that folded up that I threw in the diaper bag. She did really good and is so obsessed with being like mom that I think she liked using the big potty.

We have both - and actually have the frog potty chair that I would not recommend! The frog head is really hard for them to sit around - when they are backing up into it the frog head gets in the way and makes it hard for them to sit comfortably when they do get on. They are the only potty chairs we have had though - so they may all be like that. Plus, my two are small with short little legs so it may be easier for taller chidren to navigate them. We have the rings on both toilets but my kids are still scared of the big toilet. They ask to go on the potty but scream when we put them on the ring and do nothing when they finally get situation on the frog chair!!!

We had both so they could both go potty at the same time. I prefer the rings though but it was a while before they could easily get up and down by themselvez

we had both also - actually had 3 potty chairs and 2 rings! the one ring we gave to my mom and the other I kept - they were both very inexpensive...I bought a Safety First Potty chair that doubles as a stool and then 2 Baby Bjorn ones - all of which are now in my basement as my kids just hop up on the big potty and balance
