Potty accidents

My kids pee...a lot. We pee before going to the park (a significant amount) and within 5 minutes of arriving it's "I have to go potty" again (where they pee a significant amount again). It's sooooo annoying. They seem to pee out more than they consume. Anyway, Matthew also has tiny little "accidents". It's like he goes just a little bit, but often enough to wet his undies and the surrounding area of his pants. I go through a couple of changes a day. He's held it before so I'm not sure if he's just not thinking or if he has some sort of issue.

    Any thoughts?

If this leaking thing is new, it could be something physical. However, maybe it's the distraction of summer? Or something else? He's old enough to try a reward system to keep him dry, just to see if he is able to :pardon:

A girlfriend that was just over to visit is having this problem with one of her boys. She leaves him in it. It's not much, doesn't stink and it's a little uncomfortable! That was her philosophy!

I don't really know, but being that it's kids - I might call the pedi's office or look on their website for info regarding that!

cameron seems to pee a zillion times a day also. he used to have the "leaking" issue a lot - it's only recently (like the past couple of months) that he's grown out of it.

on the plus side, he can always make himself pee if he wants to - which is helpful when i want him to go before we leave somewhere. alisha doesn't seem able to do that - she can't (or won't) go unless her bladder is full.

If he's showing any signs of discomfort or this came out of the blue, you may want to have him checked for a UTI. But in my experience this is totally normal. I think the sphincter just isn't as strong for some kids so they dribble a little and when the bladder gets just full enough to put pressure on it they all of a sudden have to pee NOW. Eventually it gets stronger and they can hold it longer. Kayci pees a million times a day (about twice as many as I would need to make me totally crazy because she likes to play in the sink/with the soap so I keep the door locked and let her in to go) but Erick has had a bladder of steel since he potty trained just before 3. I just encourage her to hold it if it hasn't been very long since she went and it's getting better. Yet another one of those annoying phases to wait out. <_<

Bumping this because now I'm having this issue with Ainsley. She's not saying that she has to go potty, but every day lately, sometimes twice in one day, I notice that her crotch is wet when I am unbuckling her from the carseat. I ask her if she had an accident, and she seemingly doesn't even know she peed. The carseat isn't wet, so it's not like she had a full-on accident, but like you said, just leaked.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. I LIkely thought it was just an immature sphincter or something like that, but it's relatively new. He's definitely not in pain. I'm just worried about him doing it in school next year. That would be so embarassing for him, I would think. I know accidents are normal for pre-schoolers to a degree but the leaking thing is a little weird. Our 4 year check up isn't until August for the boys. I just don't know if this is something to bring up sooner or not.
