For those old regulars, you might remember my posts awhile ago about difficulties with my eldest (5 years 4 months). We are now only 2 months away from her paediatrician appointment for potential diagnosis of ADHD. She has started school this year, and is going really well but the same behaviours I notice at home are being noted at school; disruptive (blurts out answers, is very loud and just can’t help it). Lack of focus on activities that don’t interest her or she “can’t do” and hyperfocus on things that interest her (craft, drawing etc).

I will be so grateful for advice on best supporting her, but am starting to feel really nervous if she is diagnosed and has that “label” for the rest of her schooling life (teacher has filled in a questionnaire as per paediatrician requirement). I know this is silly as if the school is aware, they can support her better, but I just don’t want to shape her with a label (though I realise the other students won’t realise, for a few years anyway!). What was your experience with this?

    Thank you!

I've been in a similar spot with my daughter, and one thing I found interesting was how some people are looking into natural ways to support focus alongside professional help. I came across this the other day: https://coach.org.uk/lions-mane-adhd/ — talks about lion’s mane and how it might help with ADHD. Still figuring things out myself, but thought it was worth reading through.
