I've always swelled up a bit after each of my births but it was usually gone in just a few days. However...

I'm still swollen after two weeks. Funny thing is a didn't really swell up during the pregnancy... but, oh my, am I making up for it now. My feet are so puffed they hurt.

Any suggestions? Is this just a twin thing? I'm drinking tons of water -- and of course, piddling as much -- but yet still have swollen feet and ankles.

It took me about 4 weeks to lose all the fluid in my feet, I lost 10lbs in one week! I also was VERY swollen during the whole pregnancy. Is your blood pressure OK? couldn't hurt to check in with your OB just in case. :)

My swelling didn't go away until 7 or 8 weeks after Max & Lily were born. The weird thing was that my one leg went back to normal a week before the other. It looked really weird.

My OB said it can take up to 10 weeks to lose all the swelling from a multiple birth pregnancy. I hope you get some relief from the swelling soon. I know it drove me nuts.

My major swelling lasted at least 2 weeks and then I was still a little swollen a few more weeks. Definitely have your bp checked. My bp got extremely high after I gave birth (140/103). I was put on meds, but it stayed high until I got my first period just this week (I've been bf). So, it was totally from my hormones being out of whack. Good luck!

Mine was really bad, too. Sorry, I know how awful you must feel. Mine started to go away after 2 weeks, but definately got worse before it got better. My legs were so swollen they were shiny and white, and I had pitting edema of my ankles and feet. It started going away when I was able to move around more, and I did drink lots of fluids, too.
Hope it clears for you quickly. The swelling was more uncomfortable for me than my c-section site.

Please keep following up witih your doctor. It is rare, but it is possible to develop preeclampsia shortly after birth.

I h ad pre-e before birth and my blood pressure was high but it spiked another 10-20 points higher after the C-section and remained that high for about 6 weeks.

My feet swelled up like crazy after my twins were born (and they weren't really swollen before -- I went in to the hospital wearing my own shoes).
And my BP was actually low, so I know it wasn't that. It started going down at about 10 days PP and was pretty much gone by a week after that. But it was miserable while it lasted. (I also got a rash on my hands & feet.) I agree that it was worse than the c/s site -- although for me, both were trumped by the horrible ache in my neck & upper back as my skeleton tried to readjust to not carrying 12 lbs of babies around.

I had bad swelling too and was very surprised as I had absolutely NO swelling during the pregnancy due to 11 weeks of hospital bedrest before the babies were born. What seemed to help me was moving around a lot, drinking a lot, and putting my feet up when I could. My babes were in the NICU so I was traipsing all over the hospital and while it wasn't comfortable, I think it helped it go down faster, maybe 2 weeks? But I can certainly sympathize as I swear my calves were like tree trunks. Hope you feel better soon :)

I was going to mention this as well. Have you had your BP checked since you left the hospital?
