So, I am almost 5 weeks post partum and from my hips down I am still hurting. I had a c-section so this isn't because I pushed any two things through down there. I am just wondering if the extra weight from carrying twins can cause the lingering discomfort? I didn't have this with any of my singleton pregnancies. I am still laying on my back to sleep, because my hips/pelvis hurts too much to lay on my side. My knees and ankles are also very sore and seemingly stiff.
I did have massive swelling due to pre-eclampsia, could this be why I am still hurting. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. I just figured, the first year, would have people who would still remember immediately post partum.

I am sorry you are still hurting. :hug99: With my first I remember still hurting for quite a while post partum, so I guess you definitely can after having twins. I hope you start to feel better soon. Try to go easier on yourself. :hug99:

This is the place for postpartum questions!

I had hip pain for almost 2 months. When you're pregnant a hormone called Relaxin causes your hips to become flexible and widen so the baby(ies) can come out when you deliver. After you are no longer pregnant the level of Relaxin slowly decreases until it's back down to 0. Until it's gone your hips are still flexible to a certain extent and there will be pain. Sorry! :hug99:

I have the same problem still & I also had a c-section. My hips & legs & back hurt so bad at night or when I get up and down off the floor. Sometimes it seems like I live on tylenol. My babies are 9 weeks today so I am still waiting for it to get better.

Hope you get to feeling better soon,
    missy

I actually still have that same pain if I am on my feet a lot during the day, which is most days!

I still have the hip pain and feet pain daily after 7 months. I also had pre-eclampsia and was on Mag. Sulfate for over two days which the doctor seems to think may have contributed to the achiness as well as the pregnancy weight. I don't know if it will go away but I do keep hoping!

I too still have hip pain (and had it bad during the pregnancy and post-partum), especially if I am sitting for a long period of time with the girls on the floor. I remember the first few months I hated sleeping on my back because the pressure of my tummy felt weird and being on my tummy felt weird and lying on my side made my hips hurt. SOOOOO...I can relate for sure! My doctor told me exercise would help. Hmpf.

Still have the hip pain also and if I sleep on my tummy, need to put a pillow under it to relieve the pain. Have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, feel like a little old lady! My what a twin pregnancy does to us!

yep Jenny is right. take it easy your first few months too (as if you can) but don't try and be supermom or worry that your not (also, as if you can) but it will take awhile for your body to go back to normal and you can damage your joints if you over-exert them right now.

I've been waking up with terrible back pain that I think is leftover from the pregnancy. I spent 10 weeks on bedrest, and I think that has something to do with it. Plus 8-9 months of my muscles, joints and organs reorganizing themselves to accomodate two growing babies and preparing for labor and delivery can't possibly just all get back in sync after just a few weeks.

I'm hoping the doctor will finally ok me to start exercising next week which hopefully help with my aches and pains.
