I'm 24w4d and the past few days i've been feeling really swollen down there. I don't think it feels like pressure from the babies it feels like everything is swollen to the point where its kind feels wierd to walk.

Is this normal? Does this sound like something I should call the dr about?

Just curious if anyone has experienced anything similar or if I should call....

also I just had a cervical check on Tuesday and my cervix was 4.3 and closed and my ffn came back negative so I'm not THAT concerned about ptl but I'm always somewhat concerned about it, it's hard to put that worry out of my mind...

    Thanks,
    Erica

I had this...although not until around 32 weeks.

I'm sure it's normal but call the doc if you are really concerned!

I had this starting around 28 wks. My peri said it was totally normal and expected. If you're worried, never hesitate to give your doc a call!

SO if it were you would you call or just chalk it up to pregnancy side effect?

My OB is very quick to brush you off and just say "sounds normal" and not really listen to my fears. I LOVE my peri and they are always very understanding but I don't think this is a peri question especially since I was just there on Tuesday and got a great report and neg ffn so I think they'd think I was nuts if I called and would just send me to my ob.

So I'm hesitant to call BUT if you think I should I will, I'm just trying to get a guage on what I should do you know....

Grr. why can't DH be an ob/gyn lol :)

me personally...I'd just take it as a normal joy of pregnancy and mention it at my next scheduled appt. But you're mama! And if you worried at all, it's worth the call :)

Ok thanks- I think I'll let it go for now knowing that I just had a very positive appt at the peri on Tuesday and that I haven't had any contractions or cramping or any reason to be belive that something is wrong.

If I'm still feeling paranoid about it by Monday I'll give the peri a call and ask for another cervix check just to make sure.

Thanks so much for the advice and opinions, I tend to be a TOTAL worry wart by nature so you can only imagine the level of worry taking place in my head on a daily basis throughout this pregnancy!

I broke down and called my ob but I remembered to call the office with the nurses who I like not the bitchy nurse who always blows me off and she heard my concerns and consluted with the dr (actually a PA) who confirmed that unless I was having any bleeding or cramping that it all sounded very normal (and went into detail as to why it feels more swollen).

So while it's still kind of wierd and uncomfortable feeling I do feel more reassured!

As always thanks for the advice!

lol...i'm really glad you called. It's really very common, but I am a big supporter of calling the doc, even if it's just for the peace of mind and reassurance. Your body will do all kinds of weird swelling and growing for a while!!

It's not a yeast infection is it?

With my oldest DD I got my very first yeast infection around 30 weeks and was very swollen down there and like you said it was hard to walk.

I was just at the ob on Monday and did a urine sample and I haven't heard anythign so I assume that it came back normal.

Do you think that a yeast infection is something that they would have tested for in my urine??

i doubt they tested your urine for a yeast infection. usually they would do a swab and look at it under a microscope if they were worried about yeast.

I don't think they test for urine for yeast infection either, I could be wrong though.
