My 4 1/2 month old has been extremely difficult to feed, and has a white coating on her tongue (tho there doesn't appear to be any on her inner cheeks/gums)that won't come off. Does anyone have any experiences with this?? Calling pedi in the morning

Yes, definitely can be thrush. And it is extremely painful! I would call the pedi in the morning. They should get you in and get you a prescription of nystatin. Thrush is VERY contagious. So keep everything separate. My boys had it-twice. And Annabella had it as well-and that one was painful for ME. OUCH. Boil whatever goes in their mouth-pacifiers, nipples from bottles, etc. I bought color coded bottles(Gerber) so the boys would keep their bottles separate. I did the boiling at the end of the night. And if you are nursing, make sure you are washing your bras, etc each night. It's where the bacteria is sitting. And if you are breastfeeding, there's a good chance you have it as well. I didn't realize I had it with the boys, but boy did I know I had it with Annabella! Good luck tomorrow! I hope she gets some relief!

suprisingly, the ped said that he does not think that it is thrush. He said they used to call it milk tongue". hmmm. Regarding her refusal to eat, he says that it is common with a cold, which I knew, but she has had the cold for almost 2 weeks and this is just starting. HOWEVER, she has been eating much better today. Paranoid mommy syndrome, I suppose! You just never know with the little ones, but it makes me feel better that I tool her in to be seen.

that was exactly what our pedi told us about our kids too. Their tongues are so easy to get white. But if I clean them out with wet washcloth, they turn pink again!!! lol

oh if you give them some water after bottles, milk wont stick on their tongues that bad.
