At my Peri appt yesterday we did an NST and BPP. For the first time Baby A and Baby measured differently and lower in percentiles. Baby A was 4 lbs even and Baby B was 4lb 10 ounces. This moved them down to the 12th and 38th percentiles respectively. They had been spot on the same and above 50% until now. I will now have weekly NST and BPP's for the duration. Their fluid and doppler levels looked good. I am just worried and struggling. I don't want to harm Baby A. I feel like it is my fault because I have struggled to put on weight, only +22 lbs. Baby A is also so low we had to do a tran-vag us to get his head measurement. To add to this a week ago Friday I got put on Terbutaline for contractions, have had none since then. I am holding at 1 cm dialated. I have also developed a rash on my feet and hands.Someone tell me not to panic!!! I have been so lucky until the last week or so and now I feel like I am breaking down.

I don't know much about IUGR, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses from people who do.
I have read that some people drink protein drinks to help with the babies' weight gain. And remember that it's not your fault! I know it's hard not to feel that way (I have plenty of times!) but you are doing great! Just think of how far you've gotten to this point. And they are monitoring you and those babies closely.

Hang in there and keep us posted!

You just never know...I only gained 31 lbs in my twin pg, so not too much more than you if you continue to put on a few more pounds until the end... and my babies were 5lbs15oz and 5lbs 11oz. Just fine. Those u/s can be off at this stage in the game too...so it could be that they aren't as different as the tech believes. Hopefully your next scan looks better. hang in there.

:hug99: You have done a great job; there's nothing you could have done better, I'm sure. IUGR just happens. My babies, esp Baby B (Annika) suffered from IUGR and when I asked my OB if me eating more would help, his response was that I should take in as many extra calories as I should, but that IUGR is like the delivery supply people going on strike: no matter how much you send to the storeroom, if the delivery people don't bring it to the store, there won't be any food on the shelves!

The GREAT news is that you're already at 33 wks! That's a big deal, so give yourself a pat on the back. Also, those weights seem pretty good to me; my biggest girl was only 4lbs at birth.

They both did great, although we were in NICU as growers/feeders for 3 wks. You can read my journal entries in my website below or PM me anytime. Hang in there, it will be ok!

You are doing great. Hang in there. I only wound up gaining 23 pounds total and had the twins at 37.5 weeks. My ob wouldn't schedule my c-section until 38.5, but my water broke a week early. We think it was twin A's way of helping out twin B. I believe twin B wound up with IUGR because she only weighed 3.15. Twin A was 5.9. Neither were big babies when you consider they were "full term", but they were totally fine...fully developed. B had to be in the NICU because she was under 4 pounds. The estimates for the babies were always that they were close to the same size and were going to be much bigger than they actually were. So, I'm not sure what happened to them in the end. But, since you are being monitored regularly and are doing everything you can, I am sure it will turn out great for you. As a pp said, you have made it really far and that's the main thing. If they were born today, they would be fine. It's scary with things like this that are out of your control, but you just have to trust that your body knows what it's doing. Good luck.

Growth of multiples naturally slows at this point in pregnancy in comparison to a singleton. If your doctor didn't tell you that, shame on him/her! I wouldn't look at IUGR until a few more weeks have passed and their growth curve plummets.

As long as they are growing from appt to appt the babies should be fine. We always had a weight difference with my two but it wasn't till they were born and had actual weight measurements that IUGR was even brought up. At every u/s (we got one at every appt) they were always growing so my OB wasn't concerned also because they were fraternal. All throughout my pregnancy Twin B measured consistly about a lb smaller then Twin A. At birth there ended up being a 2.5lb difference but they were both healthy despite Twin B being smaller. At birth Twin A was 7.10lbs and Twin B was 5.3lbs. They were born (I had to be induced) at 38w3d. No NICU time at all but we did stay an extra day so that they could monitor the smaller twin with b/w. They both roomed in with me.

We just went to the perinatologist yesterday for possible IGUR. (We have a similar due date by the way). Anyway, Baby B is just smaller. He is about 1.5 lbs smaller than the girl but he's growing. That's all the matters. Since they are fraternal, the doc isn't worried about the weight difference.l He also said twins bounce all over the place with weight. He is rarely concerned unless one stops growing. They have random growth spurts. The weights are also more and more INACCURATE as you get bigger. So with all that in mind, I wouldn't worry. Plus, they would TELL you if they were worried. My perinatologist said they also check breathing and blood volume to make sure the placenta is okay. I assume your doc checked so you're probably doing just fine. Hang in there!

I ALSO HAVE IUGR, BOTH BABIES ARE UNDER THE 5%TILE. ACTUALLY YOUR WEIGHTS SOUND GREAT TO ME. THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR THEM IS STAY RESTING, MOSTLY ON YOUR LEFT SIDE TO INCREASE BLOODFLOW TO YOUR BABIES. NO NEED TO PANIC, YOUR FAR ENOUGH ALONG NOW THAT THEY CAN BE DELIVERED IF YOUR DOCTOR FEELS THEY WILL DO BETTER IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD. JUST PUT YOURSELF IN BED AND STAY THERE TILL YOUR DOC. APPTS. IT'S NOT WHAT OR HOW YOUR EATING AT ALL, IT'S THE PLACENTA'S THAT ARE NOT SUPPLYING. ALL YOU CAN DO IS REST AND GIVE THEM MORE BLOODFLOW. HANG IN THERE.

Thank you all for the reassurance. Part of my brain knows most of hat you said but all of me appreciates hearing it. I have been so blessed that I am now nervous. I saw my OB today and he thinks I have another two weeks to go. I continue to lose weight but am starting the protein shakes today. I actually cried on the scale because I was down another 2 lbs and the nurse giggled. She told me she understood why I was crying but I need to remember how many women would envy my problem. Then she told me to go buy ice cream and protein shakes.
