Back again :(. I just wanted to ask if any of you had experience with or know about IUGR? I haven't been diaganosed but I just got a call yesterday saying that Baby B is not growing as much as they would like. My ob is referring me to a specialist for a more detailed scan. Has anyone gone through something similar? I am sort of regretting not doing more of the early testing (we would not have terminated) but I would like to be more mentally preparred if we are dealing any abnormalities. From the beginning she has always been 2-3 days behind but that was about it. Now it seems to be getting further and further. On my last us, she had grown but was still behind and the tech kept referring back to the previous report while doing the scan. I also had to wait while she had someone else look over the report before they would let me leave the hospital.

I did read through all of the iugr success stories which was really helpful. I just thought I would share here to see if there was any further advice or input.

I will be 33 weeks on Thursday.

Thanks for any input or advice.

IUGR is a pretty common diagnosis. All of the babies I know whom have been diagnosed with this turned out fine. They claimed that my baby B had IUGR and was a lot smaller than my baby A before I delivered at 34 weeks. But, she was only 6 oz smaller. It's very hard for them to get an accurate reading on the ultrasound. They're often off quite a bit.

My little twin had IUGR. She was only gaining 3 oz a week. This far a long if they get to worried they will just deliver them early so they can monitor the baby better

i don't have any experience with IUGR, but i agree with the poster above about u/sound being "off" with measurements... they told me my girls were 6.5 lbs each at 35 weeks. i delivered at 36 weeks, and they were 5.5 and 6.1. (((hugs)))

Mine were always a bit apart and my OB was not concerned over this given that US measurements are often off by quite a bit. At birth they had about 1 lb difference. But I think it is good that you will be getting to see a specialist for a more detailed scan. I am sure they will monitor you more closely with that suspicion.

My little twins always lagged behind and the further along I got the more he lagged. Like Tabby-Sue said, at this point in your pregnancy if they become to overly concerned, they will deliever the babies to be able to monitor them more closely.

One of my girls was diagnosed with IUGR, and she's a perfectly healthy 4.5 year old now. At birth she was about 25% smaller than her sister, and we learned that her umbilical cord implanted in the placenta membrane rather than the placental disk where it was supposed to implant.

Like everyone else said, at this far along, IUGR isn't that worrisome because they'll just deliver and monitor the babies in the hospital. Try not to stress! (hard, right?)

    Thank you ladies!

I just got back from the OB and she said the same thing about the us, she also mentioned that she does not really trust that there is not any errors. When she sent everything to the specialist, he was ok with waiting a week for me to get in after reading my file. My ob said that this was a good sign. I did lose 1 kg since my last appointment :(. I am to go in on Thursday for an NST then specialist on Tuesday, OB on Wednesday and another NST Thurs/Fri. Yikes lots of appointments but I am happy that they are monitoring the babies closely.

Your replies mean a lot and I really appreciate them. Hugs to everyone.

If you were heavier before pregnancy they won't worry too much over lost weight as long as the babes are growing. I lost 5 lbs one week.
