Pooping right after bedtime every night?

For the past week or two, Amy has pooped within 20 minutes after bedtime every single night. I'd be tempted to call it a bedtime stalling tactic (because she's certainly big on those right now), but I don't know if she has that much control over when she poops. (ETA: And I don't think it's a PT issue, because she's in diapers all day anyway. So it's not like she's just refusing to poop on the potty, and waiting till she has a diaper on.) Anyone else had a phase like this, and is there anything I can do about it besides just wait it out?

Is it possible that she is just relaxed enough at night to go where as she is too busy during the day? I have one child who goes every night before bed and it seems like it takes forever (we are no longer in diapers), sometimes they will apologize to me because they know it makes them late for bed but I don't say anything negative because I just try to understand you go when you have to. I say wait it out.

Does it keep her up? Or is she asleep? I would just change her and put her back to bed. I am not of the opinion that they have THAT much control.....

I have one that does that occassionally. I don't think he does it on purpose, but he still does it. And he will scream and scream until I come and see what his problem is, and then I smell that he's poopy, change him, and he goes right to sleep. Grrrr, but :pardon:

One of mine did that at that age. He would either poop after going down for nap or for bedtime. I'd wait 1/2 hour after putting them down & check him. He did grow out of it.

My boys are much younger than yours, but have gone through spurts where they poop every night, long after they began STTN and not pooping while doing so.

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. :hug99:

its only in the last week that mine will wake up WITHOUT poop in the morning...my kids still poop at least 3 times a day and usually one of those is in the morning (it could be the middle of the night for all I know and they sleep through it)

To clarify -- she is usually still wide awake when she does it. We'll walk out of the room at bedtime, and 10-15 minutes later I hear, "Mommy, wait for me when I am done poopin'!" I holler back, "OK, tell me when you're done!" and she says, "OK, thanks!" :D Then a few minutes later I hear, "Mommy, I'm all done poopin' now!" I get her out of her crib, change her, put her right back in, and she zips her crib tent back up and goes right back to chatting and singing with Sarah.

I guess, as far as her bum is concerned, this is better than pooping during the early hours of the morning, which was her pattern for a long time. It never woke her up (or at least it never woke us up), but we'd go in at wakeup time and she'd be poopy, every single morning. At least this way she gets changed right away.
