I know this may be a strange topic but I was just curious if most babies do this. I remember my stepson doing this when he was about 2 1/2. My girls will generally go off into a private area where no one is around to make their poop. It's like they somehow know that it is a private matter when they are pooping. It's quite funny actually because I hear her making groaning noises so I look to see where she is and she is under a chair or hiding behind something doing her business. When she is done, she comes to me so I can change her. I look at her and say, "poo poo?" and she smiles and says "po po" It's the cutest thing :D If other babies do this, I wonder what is behind the privacy thing? Is it an innate behavior they are born with? Just wondering what yall think.

My son Evan does this and most of the time comes to me and says "Mommy poopie" but Ian has no interest and I have to chase him so I can change him...even if I ask him he won't say he just smiles. Speaking of, Evan just told me he poopied, I didn't realize since I am typing..lol

I would love to think they were born with the privacy gene, but I think they might need to concentrate a little and that's why they get themselves away from the hoopla for a min. (Especially at 12 mos. this might diminish as they get older)...... that's my "theory du jour" :p

Mine go hide about half the time. They usually go to the dining room.

Mine do. Then they come back in and announce that they need a diaper change.

Ours always tried to hide off in a corner or behind a chair or something! :D

Mine don't, but I have known lots of kids who do. My niece always said, "Don't look at me!" and one of the other girls at daycare goes into a corner under the changing table to do hers.

Lily does. Grace is more of a sleep pooper, she does it during naps or overnight.
