Every single diaper I changed yesterday on Wyatt's was a poopy diaper. Always filled up the diaper and a lot more runny (probably diarrhea). Riley's had a bit more poopy diapers than normal, but his were still his "normal" soft but smashable lol. I have never gotten the boys up in the morning to find a poopy diaper, but thank you Wyatt for the first. Wyatt's diaper this morning was over full. It had come out the back almost all the way to his shoulders, got his pjs, plus it was watery enough to slightly dampen his sleep sack as well. Just changed his 2nd diaper of the day (only about 2 hours after his morning one) and it was that runny crap again! Not only that I just changed Riley after him and Riley's poop is now diarrhea like. Riley is now getting like a rash there and I know he didn't sit in it for long. Wyatt has a rash, but then again I don't know how long he was in his night time poopy one. They are still eating normal, not fussy or anything. Its just this poop that has me slightly worried.

What do you think? Nothing at all has changed in their foods, no solids started yet, still just rice cereal mixed w/ their neosure. I'm not worried about dehydration cause they're still eating all their bottles. Could the rash really just be from the poop? Possibly milk allergy or something? Just diarrhea?

I would probably say that, if nothing has changed in their diet, that maybe it's just a bit of a virus & it will probably clear up on its own. And the rash can definitely be from the poop. Often with diarrhea it will cause a rash almost on contact, even if you change them right away. I would just keep an eye on them watch for any signs of dehydration, although if they are eating normally they will probably be fine. Hopefully it will clear up in just a couple of days.

I could have written your post! We just went through the same thing with one of our boys. Frequent diarrhea and instant diaper rash, but otherwise happy and healthy (and hungry!) After three days we took him to the pediatrician who just shrugged and said he may have pick up a bug somewhere, but he wasn't concerned since he had no fever and was eating well. Well, he woke up yesterday morning (day 4 of diarrhea) with TWO teeth! A total surprise. As soon as the teeth broke through the gums the diarrhea stopped. The funny thing was his brother sprouted two teeth the day before, but we were sort of expecting at least one of his because of his red cheeks, drooling and chewing on everything. They turned 6 months today.

I agree with Tina, it's probably a virus. And yes, the rash is most likely from the poop. Just give them a good protective barrier after each change with whatever you use-Desitin, Vaseline, etc. Call your Ped if it continues. Ours had diarrhea after a stomach virus and our Ped said diarrhea can be common up to 10 days. :faint: Luckily, it wasnt that long. I hope they feel better soon.
