I have been on modified bed rest with some pre-term labor symptoms and am having a hard time finding specific PTL statistics for twins. I have a lot of questions, and am hoping some of you twin mommies can help us expecting twin mommies learn more about causes, propensity, etc. Thanks for the help! Hope you all have a happy holiday.

My water broke at 37w0d, I delivered baby A vaginal 6.1, Baby B was breech & they couldn't turn her so she was delivered by a C. She was 5.0, no NICU for either.

Your poll didn't allow for multiple answers on the weights so I choose between 5 & 6. Maybe a mod could go in and fix it for you.

scheduled induction at 38w2d, both babies were born vaginally, pregnancy without complications, both were close to 8lbs a piece.

I couldn't vote. The boys were born at exactly 36 weeks. Our induction was set for the following week, but my blood pressure went up slightly. We had planned a vaginal birth until there was no progression after being at 7 cm for 5 hours, and then the c-section was scheduled. So, it was neither an emergency, nor planned. The boys were 6-2 lbs. and 6-10 lbs. and really no complications at all.

Good poll; I'm excited to see all the results! (And looking forward to adding my own answers sometime in the next few weeks. ;))

I couldnt put 2 answers for NICU or weights.

My girls were emergency C at 31.6. Weights 3.8 & 3.13---NICU time 4 & 5 weeks. I had PTL & shortened cervix plus some other health concerns.

Let's see if I can remember all of my answers to the poll!

My girls were born at 36 weeks 5 days. I went into labor spontaneously, I was at home watching a movie. I was so huge I was miserable and had accepted the fact that I would be pregnant for eternity, when I got up to use the bathroom for the millionth time that day and my water broke! I was so excited! My pregnancy was complication-free!

My girls were both born vaginally, Amelia was first at 6 pounds 2 ounces, followed by Lily at 5 pounds 12 ounces. All 3 of us were healthy and came home together.

In the beginning, I has a subchorionic hemmorage that corrected itself - then at 30 weeks my baby A was much smaller and had low fluid they put me on bedrest and my girls were born at 38 weeks 4 days by planned c-section - 6.8 and 6.9 pounds. Bedrest worked for us, her fluid level was still low but she had grown A LOT! Ava (baby B) spent several hours in the special care nursery because they were c-section babies and she was having some breathing issues - they were born on Wednesday and both came home with me on Friday! at just 2 days old!!

My babies were born at 37 weeks, after 9 weeks of strict bedrest for PTL/shortening-funneling cervix. I was scheduled for a c-section(baby A was breech) for the following week, but my blood pressure was up, and I was showing signs of pre-e, so I had a c that day. Jake was 5.5lbs, Emma was 6lbs 15oz, and neither had any complications. We all went home together 4 days later.

Mine were born at 35 weeks +6 days. I had no complications during my pregnancy. The day before they were born, my battery had run down on my van so I made the bad decision to walk my girls to school. It was a little over a mile round trip. I am positive that is what put me in labor. I had a c-section due to a previous c-section. My babies were 5 lb 1 oz and 6 lbs 7 oz. My smaller twin was released after 3 days and my bigger one stayed for 7 days. However, we all stayed the entire 7 days at the hospital to be with the baby.

Mine were born at 34 weeks. DD weighed 4 lbs, DS 3 lbs 12 oz.
Water broke spontaneously, c-section for both after 12 hours of labor when DS went into distress.
    14 days in the NICU.

Pregnancy complications--bed rest starting at 30 weeks due to swelling in legs, PTL at 31 weeks (4 day hospital stay), DVT and PE at 32 weeks (4 day hospital stay), hospitalized again at 33 weeks due to suspected IUGR and low amniotic fluid for DS (he actually had neither), stayed in the hospital with continuous fetal monitoring until my water broke at 34 weeks on the dot.

Ours was a planned C-section at 35 weeks due to our DD's velamentous cord insertion. Our DS was in the NICU for 10 days and our DD was in the NICU for 16 days. It definitely can be difficult on your emotions. We were fortunate to have an excellent NICU staff and very supportive family.

Mine were born 36w3d. I had a lot of BH contractions during my pregnancy, so from 28-36 weeks I was on terbutaline pills. Besides that everything was fine ... I gave birth because I went off the terb, and the contractions were getting more and more frequent. Although I was only like 1 cm dialted, my doctor said we should just go ahead and take them, so we did.

All along it was C-section for me, Baby A was breech and Baby B was transverse.

Born at 27.4 after a completely uneventful pregnancy - no bedrest, no complications, no concerns, just sudden labor that could not be stopped.

Both twins delivered by emergency c-section after more than 24 hours of drugs trying to stop the contractions, with me under general anaesthesia due to baby A being breech and with one leg sticking out through my cervix already.

Weights were 2 lb. 6 oz (baby A) and 1 lb. 15 oz (baby B). 5 1/2 weeks NICU followed by 4 1/2 weeks in a "special care" nursery, both coming home on the same day, exactly 10 weeks after they were born.

BUT . . . at almost 4 years old now they are both around 50th percentile in size, and are doing fabulously in every way. No health problems (except a little asthma which could be related to prematurity, or could just be due to genetics and family history), no developmental delays, no anything.

My girls were born at 28.1 after a month of hospital bedrest and every PTL medicine known to mankind. You can see their weights and NICU time in my siggy. They are now 14 months old and perfectly healthy.

My girls were born at 37w5d by scheduled c-section. Baby A was breech. No complications during pregnancy and babies came home with us! I don't even know what a contraction feels like as I never had any besides BH.

I had a scheduled c/s at 39 weeks. I had alot of bh's during the pregnancy but nothing that was of concern to anyone. Baby A weighed 7.14 and Baby B weighed 6.04. They both came home with me after 3 days in the hospital.

My babies were born at 34 weeks 5 days by emergency induction. My pre e. was through the roof (test results had been lost - technically I should have had an emergency delivery 4 days before  !). I had an easy vaginal delivery of both babies 11 minutes apart. They were 4.9 and 4.11 pounds and spent 5 days in the NICU for breathing and feeding difficulties. Both babies were discharged at almost 4 lbs (I would NEVER do that again!!!)

Good Luck to you and try, try, try to cook those babies as long as you can.

My boys were born at 35 weeks 4 days. Complication free pregnancy, though baby B spent 8 days in the NICU due to respiratory distress syndrome (baby A came home with me). They had TTTS at the very end and baby A was born pale (he was receiving fewer red blood cells) and baby B was VERY red (he was receiving more red blood cells). I had a c section (my ob doesn't do VBAC's and both were breech). I went into labor spontaneously...

    I had a complication-free pregnancy.

During a routine u/s at 34w3d, they suspected IUGR and low fluid in Baby B (my Ryan) - the IUGR wasn't accurate, but the low fluid seemed to be. They did a c/s that afternoon.

Baby A (Matt) - 5 lbs., 5 oz., respiratory distress syndrome, CPAP, nasal cannula, caffeine to stop bradycardias, 34 days in NICU, at which point they sent him home with an apnea monitor which he wore for 15 MONTHS. (this is totally not typical for 34-weekers, by the way!!!)

Baby B (Ryan) - 4 lbs., 12 oz., breathing room air immediately, a few apneas and bradies, 17 NICU days (much more typical for 34-weekers.)

Both are 2.5 now, thriving, developmentally on target, and healthy. :)

    Great poll!!

My girls were born at 32 w 3 days after me spending 5 weeks in the hospital for a short (basically non-existant) cervix. The girls weighed 3 lb 12 oz and 4 lb 14 oz. Aubrey had a 2 vessel cord which is part of the reason she is so much smaller. Both girls were born by c-section when the contractions wouldn't stop with meds. The girls are 2 weeks old today and we learned this morning that we get to bring them home from the NICU tomorrow....on the same day!!

I cant figure out how to add to the poll but mine is reassuring-

Easy, uneventful and comfortable pregnancy-just as easy as with my dd.
Worked FT on my feet till 34 weeks.
Just normal swelling in ankles and feet last month.
Gained 50 lbs and lost 40 of it by the time I went home and now weigh less 3 weeks later.

Had them at 38 weeks exactly.

spontaneous labor-c-section by choice b/c baby b breech

Babies were 7.7 and 6.12, perfectly healthy and no nicu time-

went home 3rd day and my recovery was great-pain free after about 5 days and able to care for babies on my own.

I couldn't vote because none of the answers in the 2nd question applied to me so it wouldn't let me vote on any of the questions. FWIW, the girls were born at 35.3 weeks, were 3.15 and 5.5 lbs, one spent 7 days in Special Care and the other 9 days in NICU, had TTTS and IUGR, I had cholestasis and HELLP, and I had a planned induction that ended in a c-section. Once they were released from the hospital they were perfectly healthy. :)

Induced at 36w3d with Pre-eclampsia & Diabetes. Babes were 5lb2oz & 4lb14oz. I did have slight polyhydramnios but they say that's typical with diabetes. We all went home healthy after 2 days, no NICU time.
