    Hey all,

It just seems that reflux is a lot more common among babies than I thought. I was just curious as to how many babies here have or had reflux at one time or another. I'm going to post this question in FY as well so don't answer it in both ;) Also, if you have any singleton babies/kids that had reflux could you let me know that as well? I'm curious as to whether it is more common in twins than in singletons. Thanks so much.

I just realized that I forgot the option of putting "I don't have any other babies/kids so just check no for second question if you have no other kids. I can't figure out how to edit the poll. Thanks

I fixed it for you! All of my kids have had reflux to a certain degree, but the twins, were by FAR the worst! It was so bad that they were refusing bottles. It was a really awful time for all of us, and I definately feel for anyone that has to go through it.

My doc also said it was more common in preemies, especially those who had apea/brady issues. And in fact the one of mine who had reflux was the one who came home on the apnea monitor. Actually her pulmonologist said she seemed to have reflux episodes based on reading the data from her monitor, which I was able to use to convince our pedi that she had reflux and I wasn't just being a hyper new mom. Rita would literally cry whenever you tried to give her a bottle, starting around the time she was 3-4 weeks or so. It was SO stressful -- mommy always ended up crying, too! And baby wasn't getting very much to eat and she was obviously in pain. Going on reflux meds zapped the problem within a day, and we were able to wean off it in just 4-5 months or so. None of my sisters' 6 kids -- all full-term singletons -- had any reflux issues at all. I had never even heard of it before! So yeah, I do think it's more common in twins because they tend to be born earlier.

All 3 of my kids had reflux. It is hereditary, my niece and nephew had it too.

No reflux here but they were full-termers and I'm sure that made a difference. Heck, they didn't even spit up. I have piles of burp cloths that never got used!

I had two full-term mega-refluxers! It was horrible.

I just want to add for myself that I also had full term babies and the reflux was AWEFUL!!!!!!!!! There was a good 2 or 3 months that I didn't leave the house because Lorien would literally spit up about 10-12 times a day.

All of my kids were preemies and had horrible reflux, colic, and milk allergies.

My daughter reflux-ed until 17 months. My son was the worst of the two but stopped around 12 months.
