?

Did you plan not to let your now 2-year-old twins watch any TV (DVDs, movies, etc.)?

This poll is for parents of 2-year-olds (24-36 months).

Mine watch too much TV. It is probably about two hours a day because they HAVE to see "Pongo and Perdita", "Barney", "Thomas and Friends"and "Baby Einstein" stuff. Soooo, if those puppy eyes look at me and say in the cutes voice "more choo choo", what am I supposed to do?!

I have no problem with them watching a little bit of TV. They watch videos/DVDs only, still mostly Baby Einstein, Raffi in Concert, and some other really mild stuff. My babysitter has brought over some animated movies, and I'm amazed at how much violence there is (they love to watch Happy Feet, but there are at least 3 extended scenes of some animal trying to kill the penguin!)

We generally limit watching to 30 minutes, usually before bed, as a way to wind down. During the summer it's been even less frequent - we usually go out for a walk after dinner, and don't offer a video unless everyone is really fussy or it's raining out.

As long as it's kept to a pretty short amount of time I don't think there's anything wrong with it. But I don't want them to watch any more than they do - for the most part, if they're awake I want them moving around and burning energy, not sitting and vegetating (like I do after they go to bed!)

Mine get to watch one show per day while I am cooking dinner. It is either Thomas, Dora or Blues Clues. They're about 20 minutes an episode. Mine never really watched any TV until they were at least 18 months or so, but it's nice to cook dinner in peace :)

I chose 1-2 hours... but sometimes it is more based on if they are watching their normal TV shows or if they are watching a movie.

My guys LOVE Miss Spider's sunny patch, The Backyardigans and Curious George. The BEG to watch those, so I let them. I would rather have them happy, then hanging on to me screaming and going nuts.

Hmmm...I am not really sure how to answer the poll.

We made an active decision to have no TV until age 2. So far at coming up on 2 1/2, we are still pretty much on the no TV train. There is no TV at their daycare, and there is no TV in the playroom, which is where we spend the vast majority of our family time at home. So during the week we watch zero TV -- we're only with them for about 2 waking hours a day, and most of that is occupied with feeding/clothing/bathing, so it'd be hard to fit any TV time in, LOL! Occasionally on the weekend or if they're sick or something, my husband turns on the TV for them in the living room, but they really only pay attention to it for about 5 minutes at a time. They're just not that into it.

So, although I had only planned to be strongly no-TV until age two, in fact I have not really found that we've watched much TV post-2, either. I am still not totally, totally opposed to it, just more in the "don't feel the need for it/interest in it so far" camp. I do sort of look forward to the day that I can plop them down in front of a movie for 90 minutes, I have to admit!!
