What is your definition of 'feed?' ARe you talking forumla/breastfeed? Or are you talking solids. Mine get breastfed when they get up immediately, but solids waited until after that.

I'm guessing you mean when they wake in the morning? I don't feed mine until 7:30. They genereally don't wake up before 6:30 and usually it's betten 6:45-7:30 they wake up. Their schedule revolves around my oldest DD's school schedule. Even if they wake up early they are content to play until their bottle at 7:30am.

Sorry - I am talking about BF/bottle in the mornings/

During the week we have been feeding them at 6:30 (usually waking them up to to so) because I have been BFing in the mornings and need my husbands help. On the weekends we let them sleep and they usually go till 7:30 or 7:45 which would work much better for us schedule-wise with 4 hours between bottles and a good bedtime. Now that I am begining to wean them I will be giving them a bottle in the morning and will not need my husbands help so they can sleep later.

I let them go at least 30' after they wake up in the am before I feed them. (the whole day schedule goes based on the time they wake up not the time of day). I use that time to wake up myself and get ready for the day. I would hate to have to race to them as soon as they wake up. Also, I don't like them getting used to eating as soon as they wake up because then they might associate it and want to eat after all naps or if they wake up in the night.

Very interesting question. I was wondering the same thing. You see, my kids usually don't take a lot when they wake up. Maybe three ounces. I thought if I waited they would take more. BUt then it runs into their solids feeding so I don't know what to do. Also I thought that it was their night feedings that was causing them not to be hungry when they woke, but they recently started to sleep through their appetite barely increased when they woke which surprised me. I feel like mine kids are grazers. They take small amounts quite a few times a day. I try to get them to take whole bottles but can't seem to figure it out. Anyway a long winded answer to your question, I voted other because I usually feed them when they wake, but then two hours later before their first nap, they finish their bottle.

We usually wait 30 minutes or so, just to let them wake up. My one DD doesn't eat much unless we let het wake up. The other would eat anytime. LOL. I like to have them eat their first bottle between 7 and 7:30am then solids at 8:15 or so. We don't stick to a rigid schedule so this changes daily.

I checked other. I agree with Axpan, you don't want to train them that as soon as they wake up, they'll get fed. That will be a very hard thing to break later on. I don't have mine on a schedule, but after they wake up, if they are content, I'll change the diaper, hold them for a little bit, play some silly games. It seems like the boys inhereted my "groggy gene". It takes them 15-20 minutes or so to wake up and be alert enough to take a bottle, otherwise, it just dribbles out all over. Plus they like to see me in the morning, so we spend a few minutes playing peekabo or something then they are less distracted and can focus on eating.
