I know this is a bit personal, but the twins will be my 3rd and 4th children, and as much as I dread the thought, I think we should be done. The doctor asked me if he will be tying my tubes after the c-section. I only have about 10 days to the big day, and I'm still not 100% sure on my answer of yes, but it's up to about 99%.
Is anyone else facing this dilema? Have you decided yet?
    Thanks for your input!

If you are not 100% dont do it (insurance usually will still cover it after C section) Like my doc said just because C section is an "easy" time to do it does not mean it is the right time... and too many docs forget that just because of the "2 in 1" procedure being the easiest time (not to put down any docs... they can all still be wonderful OBs) I had the same question (twins will be 4 and 5 for us... my biological 3 and 4) so I am opting NOT to do it until a later date if ever... hope this is helpful.

This will be number 3 and 4 for us and since we had always wanted three I think we will be getting my tubes tied during my c-section. God had other plans for us when I found out we were having twins and we are very thankful but after this our family will be complete. [IMG]

Don't do it even if you have a doubt of 1%. YOu can do it later if you want, but it isn't a bridge you want to burn when you are pregnant currently.

I'm not. While I'm pretty sure that this will be our last baby, I just don't want to do it. DH is more adamant about not wanting more, so I think he can get a vasectomy.

I had a tubal with the twins. If you are not 100%, then don't do it. I was 100%, and have no regrets! [IMG]

I was thinking about it to. I just wasnt sure if it means more recovery time..This is if I have to get a c-section.. I went vaginal with my first so I was hoping to do the same with these babies.. It all depends on them right now..
Has anyone done it and how did it go?

Yes, and I'm 100% certain it's the right choice. It's already in the paperwork. We weren't sure if we would have more after 1, so after 2 & 3, we're definitely complete.

I am 100% certain I will have my tubes tied, burned, cut or anything else to prevent another pregnancy [IMG]

This will be my 4th c-section and 6th abdominal surgery. I had alot of issues with my last pregancy that scarred up my uterus big time. The risks are too high for me to consider yet another pregnancy. DH will also be 44 when the babies come this time. I really don't want him having kids graduating college when he is pushing 70.

No, I don't plan on it. This is 3 & 4 for us and since we haven't had a boy yet, we might want to try an alternative method to have one. Other than that, if husband doesn't want to try for the boy, he can go get snipped.

I am having a tubal. The only doubt I have is worry that it won't work and I'll end up pregnant again! It is kind of a bummer that there are so many infertile people in this world who would give anything for a baby and then there are some of us who look at our husband too sexy and get pregnant. Too bad you can't donate your fertility without donating your actual eggs.

I actually don't even have fallopian tubes. My twins are a result of IVF, cause my tubes were really messed up so they removed them before i go t pregnant. Just a thought....but why doesn't your hubby get a vasectomy?

I did get my tubes tied. I was 100% sure this was it for me. My oldest is 16 and now we have infant twins. Plus my body is not going to be able to go thru another pregnancy.

As for recovery, I won't lie, the first aches and pains I felt were in my ovaries from the tubal. Five days later, I still feel it there when my pain meds wear down. Yet another reason to be 100%!

I was supposed to as he ( our little guy) was gonna be our last, but after talking to the nurse getting ready to wheel us down to the OR we changed our minds.
She said if you guys aren't 100% sure than don't do it, and I'm so happy we didn't. Not positive we will have another, but feel like we made the right decision for now.
It's so tough, but in my heart it wasn't what I wanted~ and DH told me after it wasn't what he wanted either, but was cool with what I wanted, luv him!

I didn't do it. They asked me about it several times (probably partly because of my age...41). I just wasn't ready to say no to more children. If you are in the least bit uncertain, don't do it. I can honestly say I wasn't in a state of mind to make that decision so close to delivery.

Nope - hoping for another set after these [IMG]

Well, we'll see if I still feel the same way a couple of months hence, but I definitely want to keep my options open.

These are # 3 & 4 for us so we know that we are done. I will be getting it done ONLY if I end up with a section, if I do get my vag birth then my husband will have the 'snip' [IMG]

I wouldn't do it unless you are 100% sure.

I had signed all the paperwork to have it done, but my emergency c section was such chaos, they forgot to do it! Divine intervention? Who knows...but I had said all along that perhaps my dear husband should take a little pain for all this - [IMG]

I agree with you. I went in for my doctors appointment today and in the waiting room a lady with her husband was waiting in the lobby. She watched a couple of ladies come in as well as my big self come in and she started to cry. I could tell she was trying to keep it in but I felt so bad and teared up myself. I felt ever so guilty about complaining about all of the aches and paines that I have to DH. Here I have been given this gift of four children and this couple would like just one. This helped me to put everything in to perspective today. [IMG]

I will never tie my tubes. We will go for our last in 2-3 years but even after that if DH wants to stop he can get clipped. I've suffered enough!!!!

I have decided to get my tubes tied as well. These babies will be 3 & 4 for us. When I was pregnant with #2 my ob asked if I wanted to have a tubal in the event of a c/s. I was 30 at the time and decided against it - I was fairly certain at the time that I was probably done, but I felt I was still young and may decide to go for #3. 3 years later, we weren't trying for the third baby and I had actually just ordered an IUD - which they put in while you have your period. But my period never came - because I was pregnant! - with Twins! We are ecstatic that we are having two more kids - but for us this is it. I also just don't think I can go through another pregnancy again and I think four kids is plenty for us.
I was talking with a friend who decided to have her tubes tied after her third child. She said she just knew it was the right decision for her. She felt if you are not certain - it may not be the right time for you to make that definitive decision. Like everyone else said - you can always do it later. That is why I was going to do the IUD - it would stay in for 5 years and it would have bought me time to make that decision.
    HTH & Good Luck
    Alex

The boys are #2 and #3 for us and we are 1000% done!!! I signed a consent for tubal only if I needed a section too. Well my emergency vertical section for Josh after pushing out Zach was very complicated so the drs decided not to do section due to health concerns for me. So dh went out and got snipped when the boys were about 7 months old?

But ditto, being 100% or more sure you are done! Good luck!

ETA: BUT*********** make sure the really tied/burn those tubes! Three yes 3 of my friends got pg AFTER their section/tubal. I guess this is not uncommon as your body is in massive heal mode after a section so the tubes can heal as well!
