Thanks in advance. This is a question that I have been wondering about since I hit over the half way point. I am hoping to go natural w/vaginal birth... as that is what I have had with all my other children. My DH is concerned about risks though. I just thought I would see what my odds are through all of you! ;) Thanks again!

I had a vaginal birth and it was a great experience (not that I have anything else to compare it to). They did make me deliver in the OR, after Baby A was born, Baby B flipped transverse, but they were able to flip her back and she was born 7 minutes later. I would just talk with your ob and find out if she is comfortable doing a breech extraction with Baby B, b/c once Baby A is born, who knows where Baby B will end up.

Good luck, and congrats on making it to the halfway point!!

I needed a c-section because DS had severe IUGR and we needed to deliver him early. Even if induction had been successful, he probably would not have tolerated labor well.

If my babies had had no problems, and twin A was head down, and not lighter than twin B, I could have had tried for an unmedicated vaginal delivery. That would have been my first choice. But the c-sec was fine.

    Good luck!

I had a scheduled c-section but not by choice (for other reasons). My Twin A was breech, blocking the door.

Same here. I definitely would have preferred a vaginal dellivery!

emergency section because of preaclampsia but we knew section anyway... i really wanted a section beause i was nervous of ending up with one vaginal and one section. I did not want that... ;)

Vaginal with my first, and an induced vaginal delivery with the twins. I prefered vaginal and so did my doc. The fact that baby B was breech was not an issue as long as A was head down. My first was over 9lbs, the twins close to 8lbs each.

I had a C-Section because of some medical problems, a brain aneurysm I had during pregnancy. Now I have to have all C-Sections.

c-section for other reasons: 1) i have a medical condition where its risky for me to deliver vaginally, and 2) both babies were breach (sp?)

I hope you get the birth you want, but if not the end result is what is important. GL with the rest of your pg!

I had a c-section but not my choice. Baby A was breech. She never moved out of that position/spot. I spoke to my OB who wasn't too keen on having me try to deliver with the 1st baby being breech. Then during an ultrasound, we noticed that they were "linked" together. Their knees and/or elbows were linked up. It would have been like a barrel of monkeys if I tried to deliver vaginally. OUCH! So that confirmed a c-section for me!

Also, my c-section wasn't planned/no date was set. I was going for NSTs and they noticed I was having minor contractions and would more than likely deliver that weekend. My OB had the weekend off and wanted me to deliver when he was on-call. The rest is history! ;)

I wrote c-section for other reasons... Baby A was transverse with her butt literally on/in my cervix and there was no real chance she could turn that late... while it was by choice it was due to her position.

Emergency c-section. I started bleeding heavily and they were afraid baby A's placenta had abrupted, so they wanted to get them out fast. My DD was an unmedicated vaginal birth and I'd take that any day over a c-section!

c-section for medial reason - they are MonoAmniotic Twins - no choice but c-section becasue the girls cords were tied together.

Emergency C-section (fetal distress - plummeting heartrates - to baby A) after laboring for 8 hours. Both babies were head-down, and I had already had one vaginal delivery, so my OB thought I was a great candidate for a vaginal twin borth... but it was not meant to be!

uncomplicated vaginal delivery. Baby B was breech until 36 weeks when he decided to flip....I had them a week later with no problems.

I originally wanted a c-section at first but I chickened out 15 minutes before they were going to do it  . I got scared if you can believe that <_< . But I am extremely happy that I did. I had no down time! I had both girls vaginally without any drugs at all. The doctor broke my water at 7:40 am and Aubrey (Twin A ) was born at 8:01 am and Avarey (Twin B ) was born at 8:11 am. This was actually a pain free birth as well. I didn't cry at all, well, until I got to hold my babies :D . Oh and I got the special privilage to soak my doctor from the neck down too--hehehe :rotflmbo: . The look on his face was priceless!
I hope that your birthing experience goes wonderfully.

    Lots of love!

I had the full birth experience. Baby A James was born vaginally and Baby B Sean tried to come out sideways so we were rushed in for an emergency c/s.

I really wanted a vaginal delivery but Twin A was not in position. She was actually sitting on my cervix so there was no way out! We had to do the c-section. I was really disappointed BUT I have 2 healthy babies no matter how they came out!

Well, I was scheduled to have a c/s due to a fibroid blocking the exit, the babies wouldn't have been able to get past it....but I did have an emergency c/s due to the fact that I had developed HELPP syndrome. So I voted other.

    I voted "other."

I had an elective c/s, but it wasn't exactly a choice, since I'd had an ER c/s with my first (but an induced VBAC with my 2nd). Because I was sooo pregnant and nowhere near labor (long, thick cervix) when I ran out of room for my amnions, I had a scheduled c/s because to leave them in was to risk a degraded environment. So, it was by choice, but then again, I didn't really have any other good choice. Induction was too risky because of my prior c/s (too much chance of rupture because I was so large), so I could not be induced, nor could I wait them out.

My girls were mono amniotic twins as well - no chance of anything but a c-section because of cord entanglement

Technically I chose to have a c-section but that was after 13 hours of labor and only dialating 1/2 cm. I originally scheduled an induction for 37 weeks and I went in, in the morning and they started my pitocin. Well they had a very hard time keeping the babies on the monitor that day and because of that, were unable to increase my pitocin the way they wanted to. So after 13 hours of pitocin and virtually no dialating the Dr. on call wanted to stop it and re-start it the next morning after I got some rest. Well I didn't want to go through another day of that just to end up not dialating again, so I opted for a c-section and I don't regret it at all. Both babies were out safe and sound within 20 minutes of being wheeled into the OR. They were both healthy and had no NICU time at all. They were able to come with me to the recovery area right away and then were taken to the nursery for the standard 2 hours observation.

Definitely talk about what your OB is comfortable with!!! I moved when I was about 28 weeks pregnant & had to find a new OB. My original OB would have done a c-section unless both babies were head down. The OB I switched to was comfortable doing a vaginal birth if at least 1 was head down. I ended up delivering both babies vaginally, although I needed help getting Baby A out, so she was delivered using forceps & Baby B was breech, so my OB just reached up & grabbed her out! It was quite an experience, but I loved it. I'm glad I made the switch when I did! :)

Me too, except baby b's heart rate dropped when I started to push, so the dr's ordered a c/s. Good luck!

I had a c-section because of the positions of the babies. Baby A was breech and Baby B was transverse.

Emergency C-section due to fever (mine) and fetal distress (both boys). The kicker: I had been in labor for almost 24 hours at that point, and I was 9 cm dilated, Roe was at 0 station, but I was only 90% effaced so they thought it would be another hour before I was ready to push, so I had to have the c-section.

Gregory was an emergency c/s because he got stuck and I had a fever. The twins were a c/section because my water broke when they were both breech... not by choice but also not an "emergency."

I know what you mean about the nervousness of a c/s, I was that way as well. Before I was pregnant with the twins I delivered 4 babies vaginal with no meds. My third baby was born at home by choice with a midwife because my labors were not that bad. At any rate, once I found out I was pregnant with twins my only fear was the thought of a c/s, and really the thought of recovery from a c/s. My fears came to pass, I went into labor with baby A transverse, so it was a c/s for me. To top things off I had to have a vertical cut on my uterus so I can now only deliver by c/s in the future.

But I will say that the recovery was not any harder than with my unmedicated vag. births. I was up and walking after about 8 hours and never looked back.

I voted "c-section by choice", but it was scheduled for the 31st and I went into labor on the 30th. So, I ended up having an emergency c-section.

Hmm.. Well the twins were my 4th c-section. So it wasn't by choice ;) But they came early, because I had preeclampsia. So it was emergent at the time.

My boys were delivered via c section because my OB doesn't do VBAC's (my dd was an emergency c section). My OB wouldn't have recommended a vaginal delivery with my boys anyway because they shared a placenta- the risk of the placenta coming out before the 2nd baby was too great so I would have probably ended up with a c section regardless... Plus both boys were breech- I was destined for a c section! Honestly the c section wasn't that bad. If you end up having one- stay on top of your pain meds and take everything slowly- get lots of help! Good luck!

C-Section due to both babies being breech.

I forgot to add that if the babies were heads down, my OB would have let me do a vaginal delivery even though I had a C-section with DS. To be honest, I was relived when both babies were breech and I had to have a C-section. I felt much safer for me and both babies by having a c-section.
