    Hello everyone!

We ordered some Podee bottles but are unsure of the following:

at what age can we start using them?
    HOW do you use them?
Whats the best way to clean them? Can we put in sterliser?

    Thanks!

My kids started using them at 3 1/2 months. We probably could of used sooner but I was to cheap to buy them because I wasn't sure if they would work.

I put the babies in the bouncy seats and put the bottle between their legs. I have also used them while in their car seats. You have to tilt the bottle when it gets to the bottom so the formula goes through the straw.

I just wash them in hot soapy water and use the little brush to clean the tubes. I have put all parts except the tubes in the dishwasher. I didn't run those through because the package says not to boil them when sterilizing.

Only other advice is to make sure you put them together right so they work right. We put the piece that goes on the bottle on backwards and were having a hard time getting formula to stay in the straws. My kids were a bit frustrated when they first used them, but keep trying they do save time.

    Sorry so long!

I am so glad I read this post. I was about to say how much I hated my podee bottle b/c the formula wouldn't stay in the straws & they could never get anything out. I didn't know you could put them together backwards. I am going to have to search for the directions now. [IMG]

We started using them at 2.5 months, because that's when we found them. It took Ainsley a few days to get the hang of it and it took Sierra about a week. I had to hold in the nipples for them at first and then I just gradually decreased the pressure I was using until they were doing it by themselves.

All the singletons in our extended family have been able to use the Podee from birth but some twins need a little longer. It just depends on your babies. We had a moms of 1 month old triplets write us and tell us they were working great with her babies so, obviously, multiples don't always have to wait.

You can put the parts in the sterilizer but, just to warn you, the tubes can shrink. I had 9 bottles and extra tubes & nipples and I only had one tube ever shrink so it's not common but it did happen. I usually cleaned them but dropping all the pieces in a pot of hot, soapy water I kept in the sink. This got all the milk off and made it easy to just run the bottle brush through them and rinse later on.

Our girls switched to Podees full-time at 3 months old and I usually fed them by holding one girl in my arms and laying the other one next to me on the couch with her head on a pillow. Since I didn't have to hold the bottles, my hands were free to interact with them. We also used our Podees in the stroller, the car, and at restaurants.

Good to know, I am getting two kits from your store and I can't wait to see how the boys do with them. We have been using Bottle Bundles up til now, and their little hands are starting to move the pillows away from their faces resulting in losing their bottles. So now we need to try something else. We started using the podees at 3 weeks and loved them. they boys had so much less gas and spit up using them cos they could suck at their own pace. We just dropped them in soapy water after every use and I used the steam sterilizer every night for the days tubes. I just bought the feeding kit and extra tubes and used them with my ventaire bottles. I dont use them any more cos I like the boys to learn how to hold their own bottle now. They saved me!!! It make feeding time more enjoyable and not as demanding on me. I used to put them both in their boppies on wither side of me on the couch and just take turns burping the boys.

You are lucky, I just found out about them and my boys are 7 months old! I say as soon as they can suck them, use them. I saw a woman with quads on Oprah, her babies were 3 months and using them. I put all but the hoses in the sterilizer and was those with really hot water. They are great, you will love them and so will your babies! Since we got them I am able to keep them both fed, happy and burped at the same time!

I bought them when the girls were younger (can't remember when) but we never used them. Waist of money in my opinion.

What size are the nipples that come with the Podee system? Are they slow/medium/fast flow? Can they be used with cereal in the bottle?

The Podee nipples have a flow that is based on how quickly the baby sucks. Since the baby is not being gravity fed (like with a regular bottle) and milk won't flow into their mouth unless they suck, the rate of flow is determined by them. Newborns and 12 months olds use the same nipple. We did find that the silicone nipple tends to be easier to use for younger babies though since it is more flexible than the latex. You can't use cereal with the bottle.
