I got 2 Podee baby bottles as a gift and it seemed like a great idea but the girls don't like them. I wonder if they are still too young? They can't seem to suck hard enough to get the milk to come up. Maybe I'm putting it together wrong....

Has anyone used them and liked it?

I have loved these from the get go. I still use them all the time. If they are not attached properly the milk won't come up through the straw part. It all has to be put together tight and secure. Once they get the hang of it they are a dream. I can go anywhere and feed them anytime.

Here is a pic of them in the bumbos

    How cute!!!!

I must be doing something wrong. I even tried to suck on it myself and couldn't get the milk to come up thru the tubing

Do you remember how old they were when you started?

    Thanks!!!!

Mine were hit or miss using them. They started at about 4 months and we didnt use them very often. I found them helpful if we were out and about but at home it was just easier to double feed.

I tried sucking through them too!! I am glad I am not the only one who tries these kind of things :D I never figured the podee bottles either and I was so excited to start using them! I finally just trained the boys to hold the small little bottles of milk because they were too little to hold onto the big 8 0z ones and that was a HUGE help when they were old enough to hold their own-4.5 months maybe?? I can't remember and it hasn't even been that long!

I have 2 of them and they haven't helped :(
they were working properly - as in I would suck up the formula to the tip - so it'd already be there for the girls -- but they'd never "get it" and just scream. Although they were just 2 months old at the time (haven't tried since) but maybe now that they're older I should try again...

We used the Podee bottle with our son and absolutely loved it. By the time he was 9 months old, it was the only bottle he would take. Little booger! I found that the nipples that come with the Podee are just awful so we substituted them for the Gerber or Parents' Choice nipples. Our girls have used them whenever they wake up screaming at the same time because I'm unable to tandem feed with an 18 month old running around. They're 8 weeks old and have used them with success since they were 3 weeks old. Here's a pic!

I think about 3 months or so. I wasn't using any bottles before that because of BF'ing. But if the caps are not secure on them the milk won't come up through the tube.

I have one but haven't tried it yet. Your post is inspiring me to check it out and see if it works for either baby...will get back to you!

We absolutely loved them with the twins. It was one of our favorite products. We started using them around 4 months. I would suck the milk up through the straw in the beginning and get it started for them. I highly recommend you using them. We did switch out the nipples for our Dr. Brown ones. I plan on using them again with Natalie, but haven't had to yet since I'm nursing most of the time.

I have them but my girls find the nipple too small to latch onto. I was not able to breastfeed and am using the playtex drop ins at the moment. I will try again when they are a little older.

Glad for the advice about changing the nipples perhaps that is the problem too? I know you can buy just the podee guts and use it with any bottle.

We also absolutely loved them. They were a godsend for us. We used them right after they came home from the NICU at 1 month old. We did always squeeze the nipple first to start the flow of milk. The nipples do wear out quickly and we ordered new ones because none of the other ones seemed to work for us. As other people have also said, they do have to be put together correctly and made sure that the nipple part is screwed on tightly to make it work correctly. Try not to give up on them because they really do work very well and are handy during shopping trips! Some people said that they might not tranfer to sippy cups as well because of these but they were wrong...we had no trouble at all. Good luck!

I think I'm going to get some of these bottles! Can you use any other nipple with it? Currently, we use Dr. Browns, Born Free and Playtex drop in bottles.

I've switched to using our Dr. Brown's nipples because the babies seem to like them better. I'm glad I asked and decided to stick with them after all the positive replies I got here.

Loved them! Great invention for moms of twins!
As far as getting the milk up I would suck it up and then it encouraged them to keep sucking because they got the first sip easily.
They are kind of a pain to put together and take apart...

My first twins I took care of loved them, and I used them all the time. I have started using them with my kids and it is slow going I had to change the nipples to Parents Choice nipples, they could not latch on with the nipples that came with the bottles. Good luck if you can get them to use the bottles it will be a big help to you.

We LOVE Podees! We used Dr Brown's nipples when we switched to a faster flow. Also I switched the bottle to a cheap Gerber BPA free type and they work really well too. I have a terrible upper back and trying to hold two bottles was too painful. Podees saved my life! Started using them at 6 weeks.

    Loved them. :D

Your two are definitely old enough. We started with the Podees at 2.5 months and, within 2 weeks, they were the only bottle the girls used. The lids do have to be on tightly, the tubes pushed all the way on, make sure the flat adapter on top of the bottle is positioned correctly, and if you have a latex nipple squeeze it open because the latex can seal itself shut when washed in very hot water. Also, using a different nipple can sometimes cause problems.

We had to hold in the nipples for the girls for a few days and then I just slowly decreased the pressure I was using to hold it in until they could do it themselves. Definitely squeeze the tip of the nipple to bring up the milk for them before giving them the bottle so they don't have to suck it up themselves. After they get the hang of it, then they'll be able to but they probably have no idea why you're giving them a bottle with no milk if the milk isn't already in the nipple.
