Please tell me that eventually they will stop spitting up. I feel like it's never going to end. This morning I had to change work clothes twice; and I'm really careful--I don't get dressed until the last possible minute--but they got me anyway.

They are about 5 1/2 months old; and several of the books say that most babies stop spitting up by 6 months. I suspect this is a lie. Mine just keep getting worse. And they spit up hours after they eat--just when you think you're safe...blecch. I think that I'll probably still be wiping off spit up when we drop them off at college. :nea:

Sorry about the multiple costume changes :)

Ours had reflux and it got much better by about 8 months. But I have heard others echo by one year. It will end!! :hug99:

We saw a big improvement with my daughter (she was our reflux baby) by 7 months. It started getting better at 6 months and by 7 months we were able to switch her from Nutramigen to Good Start formula.

M has/had reflux. It got a bit better when she started sitting up independently around 7 mos, I guess. It was all but gone by about 9 mos. Every once in a while she'll spit up but it's now the exception rather than the rule. Hang in there.

My DD1 has just now stopped spitting up so much. DD2 never had the issue. I thought it would never end, but I have noticed a lot less spitting over the last week, so maybe 7 months? Yesterday was the first time ever I picked her up from the babysitters and she was in the same clothes that I dropped her off in. Usually she would go through numerous outfits per day.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my spitter didn't stop until after year when she was walking well. Just like our doctor said, gravity finally helped keep everything down for her. Until then it was all day, every day and got a little worse the more mobile she got.

I so know how you feel, the spitting up was the worst part of the first year for me, even worse than sleep deprivation. Unfortunately, my spitter did not stop until she was 12 months and walking well. Hopefully yours stop sooner.

My babies were constantly spitting up but honestly, their yakking seemed to seriously taper off by six months. Now, at 11 months, they RARELY spit up. You'll get to that spit-up free zone, it's a great place.

Our pedi said that it should slow down a lot around 6 months when we start solids (helps keep everything down!)

We did see a slight re-increase when they really started crawling, all that time on their bellies! But it got much better after six months.

I am with you. Mine seem to be spitting more now than ever before. They sit up - they spit. They lay down - they spit. I hold them - they definately spit. Especially if I am wearning dark clothes. I probably shouldn't admit this, but when I am home for the day and they spit on me I don't even bother to change clothes any more. I wipe it down with a cloth diaper and move on. Because the second I get something clean on they are definately going to get me. I feel like it's a game for them sometimes. They get bonus points if they can hit the shirt and the pants...

I can't remember exactly when they stopped. I know it was before a year old, but definitely after 6 months because I remember them spitting up baby food and trying to get it out of clothes. I just kind of noticed one day that it had stopped.

Mine still spit up occasionally at 12 1/2 mos :). The WORST stage, for me, was when they'd crawl...puke...and play in it. SO GROSS! Now it's rare...maybe once per week & usually only after dinner :). I had LARGE volume spitters, too, so NO ONE wanted to hold my sweet, spitty babies......

Oh-it does get easier! My boys spit up CONSTANTLY! They lived in bibs the first few months-and they always spit up on whoever was holding them! Anyways... I noticed it got better once they started to sit up on their own. They still spit up a bit here and there-but it's a lot smaller, and more infrequent!
