    Everything is "poopy butt."

    The cereal is poopy butt
    The dog is poopy butt
    Mommy is poopy butt
    The spoon is poopy butt
    I am poopy butt
    You are poopy butt
    etc. etc. etc.

Most of the time, they think they are being funny. But then last night Nathan got mad at me when I took him out of the bath and he said very angrily "mommy, you're a poopy butt!" and blew a raspberry at me! It took all my energy to not laugh at him, because it was quite hysterical.

What can I do to get this to stop? Ignore it? Put them in TO? What? So far, I've just been trying to tell them not to say that, it's not nice. don't talk ugly...etc. But that's not working.

    thanks.

I have no idea, but we're right there with you. Last week I corrected some behavior of Sarah's and as I was walking away she mumbled (very loudly) "Mommy's a poopy pants." Her brothers rolled all over the floor laughing. I put her in TO, told her it was sassy talk and not very nice, and called DH at work to tell him I had been slurred by a three-year-old. I think poopy pants is the lowest you can be to a 3yo!

I just spoke to our daycare teachers about this the week of Christmas as my DD came home saying things she picked up there. She's 3 1/2. At daycare, they tell the kids that language belongs in the bathroom. I started to use it at home and already it has made a difference. Good luck and be consistent.

    :rotflmbo: That's hilarious!

I like the bathroom idea. Other than that, I'd probably just ignore it and wait for it to blow over - sooner or later, it will.

FTR, I am currently ignoring requests for "graham crackers shaped like vaginas/graham crackers shaped like penises." As in, trying not to show them that I am about to pee in my pants laughing about it (and wondering WHERE ON EARTH they came up with that idea!).

Oh dear Lord, that made me :rotflmbo: I almost became peepee pants.

My dd did similar things like this but she was saying she didn't like me (or whoever) and I started putting her in TO because ignoring it didn't help. :gah: The TO did help.

ok - totally hilarious. in our house we have a "no potty talk" rule. it works most of the time. but not all of the time. and then they like to find creative ways around the rule - like "but mommy, i was saying pee as in the letter p" - um, yeah, right!

it's sooooooo hard not to laugh at them sometimes!

Ainsley and Bea must have read this thread! They are running around singing "Poopy Poopy" to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
