    Please HELP!!!
My DD has cradle cap that no matter what I do it will not go away. The Dr said that all we needed to do was put baby oil on it and use a comb to break it up.
We have done this for about a month and I even bought this special cradle cap stuff with pooh on it from target and it didn't work. Her poor scalp just gets red and then it seems to heal up and it just comes right back. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me?
    Thanks So Much!!

My son had cradle cap too. We never used anything on it, no lotions or creams. Just combed it everyday for about a month or so. It's completely gone.

One of my girls had this. We used (and still do) Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns. After the second shampoo, it was gone and never came back. I buy it at Bath & Body Works, but I think I have also seen it at Babies R Us and I'm sure you can find it online.

[SIZE=10pt]We're in the same boat ~ DD still as it too. Poor thing doesn't have very much hair either, so you can really see it. :(

We've done everything the pedi has recommended, and it's still here.

I'll look for the Mustela Foam soap (thanks pp) and try that

    April :)

My son has it and the pedi said the same thing about the baby oil and comb and that just made it seem harder to get out. I was told not to use anything on it by my mother and my aunt and it got way better. However, recently my son had to go to the hosp for a yeast infection that irritated his eczema, and had to go to the childrens hospital and the doctor there gave us a prescription for a shampoo called Selenium it worked use it every day for 5 days then once a week and it cleared up really well. It smells really bad though like tar kinda. My son scalp is still dry from the eczema but it got the cradle cap to totally disappear.

My sister-in-law is a Pediatrician and said that you can use just Selson Blue or Head and Shoulders for baby cradle cap. I didn't have to try it b/c my girls just had a few flakes but nothing noticable or worth messing with. Also, be sure you aren't using TOO much soap on their skin. Babies don't really need soap and it really dries out their skin. I bathe my girls in just plain warm water ... I put a teeny drop of soap in their hair ... but I don't use it on their skin. They have lovely soft baby skin =)

This suggestion is one that I have done with my older daughter and with one of the twins... I want to put a disclaimer on it though since it is a HUGE pain!!!

Anyway, if you massage their heads w/ lots of vaseline and then wash out it works... I have tried vitamin e oil as well, and it does not work nearly as well! The vaseline method works and for us it worked the first time... The part that is a pain is the washing part... it takes a lot of work to get it all out!

Our ped had us use Head and Shoulders shampoo, and it worked well!

Our boy looked like a greasy pie crust! We rubbed olive oil on his head about 30 minutes before bath time. We would take the baby brush and massage the oil in. In the bath we would lather up his head (with a special olive oil soap!), leave the shampoo on while we scrubbed all the milky bits out of his neck and then go back to the head with the brush again. Brush against the direction of the hair growth. Then give a real good rinse.

Like some pp have said, I've also read that doing nothing is perfectly fine.

The doc told us to use Nizoral, but I wanted to stick with the olive oil soap.

I've also heard the Head and Shoulders works great as well.

My pedi gave us a prescription for Aquaphor blended with hydracortizone 2% (the pharmacist has to make it). It cleared it up in 2 days - it was absolutely amazing!!!

I used the gentle naturals (pooh) shampoo from the grocery store. It smelled awful! However, I used one of those little baby brushes (with a sponge on one side) to scrub it a little when I shampooed it and that seemed to help alot with loosening up the scales. It took a few washings to get rid of it though!

Our ped saw that my twins have cradle cap at 4 months. He said it does no harm an eventually goes away. My son had it as well and I did the olive oil to the head and that worked pretty good. I would put it on before he would get a bath, I put a towel down so it could stay on his head for about 30 mins and then combed his hair (he was born with a full head of hair like his sisters) and then would bath him, washing his hair 2 times to get all the oil out completely. I have yet to do it with my girls though.
