went to the hospital because i started to throw up as well as having contractions and diarrhea. when i got there i wasn't dehydrated, but they did give me a bag of fluid anyway. my cervix was still closed (thank goodness). however, this pregnancy my BP has been high and it keeps creeping higher. my resting pulse was 130-140 bpm. i have had tachycardia since 24 weeks. my BP has been 155-160/ 88-97 for the past month. they did a 24 hour urine sample (not fun) and there was protein in it, doc said he wasn't worried about it. the last two visits i have checked the pee dipstick and it said i have trace protein (they leave the bottle with the chart on back on urine sample cart). i have swelling in my hands and face (so much where some days i look as if i have been socked in the eyes), pitting edema, high BP, protein, floaters, am now puking and have had diarrhea for three days...what constitutes as having pre-e? i guess i am just confused and wonder how much higher they are going to let my BP get?

I too am surprised they are not more concerned. Sounds like my doctor though who always says there is nothing to worry about....drives me nuts.

I am also surprised that they are not more concerned. I think I would get a second opinion to be on the safe side. I hope you are feeling better soon and keep us all posted!

I would call and make an appt with either your OB or Peri, if you have one, and tell them your concerns, and find out why they are not concerned. I had most of the same symptoms as well, but the bp and swelling held out until the last week before I delivered. My heartrate was 140's resting, and I was put on meds at the end for it. I also did a 24 hour urine and my levels were crazy high. My bp would stabilize and lower when I was on my left side though. Call your doc. :hug99:

my ob is the one who wasn't concerned about the protein because he said it's common in pregnancy to have some protein in urine, so i am guessing it wasn't too high, then? i don't know...i just know that normally (even when PG) my BP is aroun 116/70 always.
my pulse does seem to go down when i am on my left side, hence the bedrest.
