Please help me with this fever!

Discussion in 'The First Year' started by three_precious_girls, Oct 11, 2007.

Braelynn has a virus ( I think its roseola) the only symptoms are high fever and a rash on her tummy. The dr said to give her tylenol and let it run its course. The tylenol however is taking a bit long to work. She has had fevers of 101, 102, and 103 since Wednesday evening. The tylenol does bring it down, but it takes 1 hr to kick in. What else can I do to make her comfortable? She pants at me and wants to be held all the time and I feel so bad for her!!! Its almost midnight, so any advice would REALLY be helpful!!!!

What about a nice cool bath? Sometimes that can help to cool the body down until the Tylenol will take effect. Or just washing her down with a cool face cloth?
I hope she feels better soon.

A cool washcloth or cooler than normal bath would be nice. Some light clothes would help too. Sweating would make her more itchy I'd imagine. Poor thing, I hope she feels better soon!

I just posted about 4 days ago about a mild fever that escalated to 103 and it started with an ear infection and now Roseola. I used Motrin instead of Tylenol for the high fever. It seemed to work better and keep it down longer. I also did the warm/cool baths twice a day and used cotton clothing. Hope she feels better soon. We are on day 3 of the rash and I think (fingers crossed) we have turned the corner.

Both my girls had this a couple of months ago. We also did tylenol every 4 hours and cool wash cloths on their heads. Hope she feels better soon. For Ana it took a week to run its course, but for Meara it was only 4 days. -Leighann
